This past Sunday i preached on Luke 4–the story of Jesus’ hometown ppl trying to throw him off a cliff after he proclaimed the good news, and then said that good news was going to benefit the ppl they didn’t like. They gonna try and toss this woman off a cliff.

Jesus wasn't crucified for being nice. Let that sink in.... Jesus threatened the status quo. Jesus threatened the powerful. Jesus threatened the wealthy. Jesus threatened their way of life, which kept them on top and others on the bottom.

In addition to all my fear and anger, I'm sitting with the sinking feeling that American Christianity is a unsalvageable morally bankrupt project, that progressive religious voices are being burnt out into oblivion, that the boom in deconstructing/exvangelical voices after 2016 died in the water.
