I've been redesigning my website lately! Now I have a blog section (including an Atom feed). This gives me a place to round up links to the creative things I make all in one place. ptrgags.dev/blog.html

Almost there! Just two more columns of navy blue to go. #crossstitch #embroidery
Coral embroidery pattern, mostly finished. The coral in red, the rocks in purple, and the vertical wavy lines in white are complete. The background navy blue stitches are mostly done, there are just two more columns of half stitches on the left that need to be completed.

A "column" here is measured in blocks of 10 stitches wide

Wow this looks a lot more fleshed out compared with last week! #embroidery
Photo of the coral cross stitch pattern in progress. The coral shape is now completely visible, though only the rightmost branch is fully cross-stitched.

The purple rocks at the bottom are almost done

The navy background is still in progress.

And... Finished! I've been rebuilding the lego mosaics for my walls with new patterns. Clearly I'm ready for Halloween and it isn't quite September yet haha
Photo of eight lego mosaics slightly overlapping on a table. At the top, a mini zine shows two of the patterns.

Some are abstract, some are Halloween themed. One is inspired by the 90s Dixie Cup Jazz pattern.

Progress update on the coral cross stitch pattern! I'm using half-stitches for the first pass, this way the shape appears rapidly. A second pass will turn them into cross stitches. #embroidery
Progress on the coral embroidery project, with the pattern printout on the right.

About a third of the canvas is covered with half stitches

I thought I'd try posting a #pico8 cartridge to the official site. I'm starting with one I haven't shown off yet: a hitomezashi embroidery pattern editor! See the link below for a live version and more background info! www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=158...

The other day I started a new cross-stitch project. I drew this coral pixel art myself in Aesprite, now to put it to fabric!
Start of a cross-stitch project of a pixel art coral, with a chart next to it. The chart uses four colors (white, coral, light purple, and navy blue)

I took a page out of @jenivievedesign.bsky.social's book. I got a pack of holographic laminate sheets to add some iridescence to my art! I picked a pack with geometric patterns as that best fits my art style. #arttradingcards #aceo
Art trading card doodle in green and yellow with iridescent vertical lines on top where the light hits it. The iridescence comes from the holographic layerPicture of the doodle in less lighting so you can see the pattern better.

The top left was a polka dot pattern turned into ladybug-like creatures. The top right is a decorative leaf with a... Slug? With three eyes.

The bottom right is a coral-shaped green creature under the sun. The creature has a mustache and has one eyebrow raised.

The bottom left is horizontal stripes with diffusion-limited aggregation patterns that kinda look like rootsSheet of holographic laminate sheet. The light is angled to show off how it produces iridescent rainbow patterns. This pattern has a grain along the length of the page, kinda like brushed metal

I'm trying to find a way to store my embroidery projects (including future ones I make) in a way that I'll actually view and enjoy them... Any ideas? My first thought is something along the lines of a 3-ring binder but smaller. Not sure how to mount these as "pages" though. #crossstitch #blackwork
Eight cross stitch and blackwork embroidery patches. All 50x70 squares (except the bottom right one we don't talk about that...)

The fabric is not all the same count, but the largest plastic canvas one would fit in a 4x6 inch rectangle Older embroidery patches. 2-3 inch squares

There's no end to this art. #artisttradingcards #aceo #fountainpen #doodle
An abstract doodle where the patterns spill across three cards.

However, the colors do something different. The first card uses black and blue ink, the second blue and magenta, the third uses pink and blackBut wait! If you move the first card to the end, it loops! And again, moving the first card to the end produces a third pattern

Yesterday I finished making this unusual clock. It lets you set what hour you wake up/go to sleep. Then you can see what proportion of the day has elapsed so far in a visual way. Live version: ptrgags.dev/p5-sketchboo... #p5js #clock #creativecoding
Screenshot of my Waking Hours Clock demo. It's a 24 hour clock dial (with just an hour hand). It is divided into two portions. a large orange arc for waking hours, and a smaller purple arc for sleeping hours.

There are white numbers outside the circle from 0 (midnight) to 23 (11:00 PM). Another set of blue fractions inside the circle indicate proportions of daytime/nighttime.

This week I tried a new medium -- block printing! It pairs quite nicely with my art style. #linocut #printmaking #stampmaking
Two prints. On the left, a white on black print of a braid repeated several times at a diagonal on an index card

On the right, a white on black print reminiscent of the veins of a leaf, though the small veins are a bit more grid like.

Above each card is the block I carvedPicture of various linocut blocks next to carving tools (gouges) and shavings

Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ I made some new bookmarks for the occasion #pridemonth
A pair of bookmarks. One is a Progress Pride flag, the other is also a Progress flag but with squiggly, stylized lines.

Above it, a bunch of watercolor brush pens used in the making of the bookmarks.Closeup of the squiggly Progress flag bookmark. It's still stripes and chevrons, but all the lines are squiggly like the coral patterns in much of my art.

The top and bottom stripes are partially cut away to match the squiggly shape

This doubles as my new profile bannerEarlier work in progress picture with only about half of the stripes colored in, and before I traced the outlines with fineliner pen.

Haven't done an ink wash in a long time, so made this abstract doodle. The colored parts were drawn in fountain pen ink. Then smeared with a water brush This time I traced the outline in fineliner. In the past l would't bother. #artisttradingcards #inkwash
Abstract doodle reminiscent of two cross section of underground tunnels. The top one is in mint green, the bottom in orange.

This is an ink wash, so I used a water brush and smeared the colors. I outlined the result with fineliner once it dried

AI, the miasma. #fuckai #artistradingcards
Drawing of the text "AI" on a card with pens above it.

The AI is colored in a disgusting combination of many colors, representing AI slop

Above the letters, grey smokestacks and a purple cloud with skull and crossbones. This represents both the literal pollution by AI datacenters and the figurative pollution of countless areas of human life (work, education, art, the list goes on)

A recursive doodle I made the other day. #mathart #arttradingcards #abstractart #mathart
A doodle of recursive patterns. The overall structure is a set of L-shapes nested inside each other as you go from the bottom left to the top right.

In each L shape, at the top there's a circle with one quarter colored in. The circle rotates a quarter turn clockwise each iteration.

In the bottom left, there's a creature that's mostly a big eye stalk with some other embellishments like stripes. From iteration to the next, there are fewer stripes.

In the bottom of the L, there is a sequence of diamonds with a circle in the middle. As you go from left to right, it alternates between filling in the diamond vs filling in the circle. In each successive iteration, the whole row of diamonds is repeated but with the fill style swapped.

And finally, from one iteration to the next, I toggle between two pen colors (purple to dark blue and vice-versa).

Today was fountain pen inking day. I thought I'd start a log to see how the palette of colors changes over time. I tend to keep 6 pens inked at a time, and cycle pens in/out as they need refilling.
A page titled "Ink Swatches". There's a grid with 6 columns. The first row is filled in with the pen colors of the week.

On top of the paper, are 6 fountain pens lined up in the corresponding order.
