I back in so I can see who/what is in front of the space when I’m leaving. Too many people just walk without looking at the cars around them. And too many drivers just pull out, also without looking. It takes four tries because my backup camera doesn’t show where I am in relation to other cars.

For me it was a historical fiction series set during and after the Civill War. A lot of things didn’t seem quite right, but I finally quit when they started discussing the Wind Chill. The one that wasn’t described?invented? until the 1970s.

Fair enough. UConn, however, makes no such distinction, yet sports announcers during women’s games still attach “Lady”. In the state, we talk about the “UConn men” or “the men’s team” and “UConn women” or “the women’s team” to clarify which team is the topic of conversation.

Most heard during basketball season, you’ll hear about Tennessee’s Volunteers or Vols with no gender distinction — for the men. The women’s team is invariably the “Lady Vols.” UConn Huskies… “Lady Huskies” Even during women’s game broadcasts.

There should be a requirement that meals cannot be included when Congress/court/anyone from the administration attends a conference or gives a speech/presentation etc. They have to pay out of pocket — NOT on expense account or government charge card. If it’s good enough for school kids…

No, there should not be separate classes of voters. The unengaged residents are paying taxes - through rent or property tax and car registrations. They make use of town services. The campus is a separate entity with its own police and often fire dept ( if large enough).

The college students will themselves tell you they are GOING HOME for weekends/Thanksgiving/Christmas/mid-semester /spring/summer breaks. Most schools don’t even *allow* students to stay in dorms over breaks. That doesn’t sound like their residence to me.

Keep in mind they are also voting in local (town) elections, but most have no vested interest in the community. They can tip the vote in favor of a new school that the long-term residents don’t want/can’t afford, and be long gone before the bills come due. That doesn’t seem right.
