A short distance from our house is this one. The front faces east like ours. We have to keep the blinds shut during heatwaves but this place relies on Virginia creeper to cover the windows all summer. Every autumn once the largest have fallen they cut it back to let the winter sun in.

We went to view the flight of 11 locks at Hélé. A few stationary boats but nothing moving. The locks are very solidly built of stone and well maintained.. #BoatsThatToot

Hello hive mind. I'm pretty ignorant about insects but there are a few of these in my boat. Looks like a small wasp. Head to tail about 10mm, wingspan about 12mm. What are they? Do they sting? Something bit/stung me yesterday but I think that was a horsefly, though I didn't actually see it.

Looks like someone approached the mooring a bit fast. Though more likely as parts of the Oxford Canal are actually the river Cherwell it got stranded in a flood. Someone lives on it I guess he's hoping the next flood will put it back in the canal.
