Had a lovely cycle today with my very energetic guest @vulotaur.bsky.social It was very weird seeing Carsington Water with so little water, but we were blessed with fantastic weather and I think he enjoyed the scenery of the Peak District ^^

I saw the incredible Königstein fortress while I was here. I think it's the most imposing and seemingly impregnable castle that I've ever seen! It's an amazing structure with a long history, and some incredible views that I only caught glimpses of between rainstorms.

I first caught a glimpse of the Bastei Bridge 7 years ago, while cycling up the Elbe river. I've wanted to see the rest of this bridge that's ridiculously high in such strange rocky terrain ever since, and it was worth the wait!

The town we're staying in is really pretty, and right by the border with Czechia. It was interesting to walk through the disused border checkpoint last night, it's an imposing structure that's very out of place in this pretty valley. Looking forward to seeing more of the town and the surrounds!
