You don’t need to prove your value with productivity or perfection. You don’t need to earn rest, love, or compassion. You are worthy because you exist. When you treat yourself with the kindness you give others, you rewrite the story about what makes you "enough". And that shift can change everything

You are not "too much" or "too sensitive". You are doing the best you can in this moment.

You are worth the rest and kindness you teach others to value.

You are not broken. You are responding to pressure. You can learn new responses.

You can't change the past. You can change how you'll nurture your future.

We often expect ourselves to “bounce back” quickly, as if healing has a timer attached. But real healing is layered, uneven, and deeply personal. Some days you’ll feel strong and grounded; other days you’ll feel like you’re starting over. Both are valid. Both are part of the process. What matters is that you keep showing up for yourself, even in small ways. Progress isn’t measured in speed - it’s measured in courage.

Your past shaped you. It does not get to decide your future choices.

You’re not obligated to stay the same person you were last year, last month, or even yesterday. Growth often means letting go - of old habits, old beliefs, old versions of yourself that no longer serve you. Evolving isn’t betrayal; it’s transformation. And transformation is a sign of strength.

"Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is simply pause. In a world that constantly pushes you to move faster, achieve more, and stay “on,” choosing to slow down is an act of rebellion and self-respect. When you give yourself permission to breathe, you create space for clarity, healing, and perspective. You’re not falling behind - you’re reconnecting with yourself, and that’s where real strength begins."

I often remind people that mental health fluctuates over time. You can notice changes early by checking in with yourself daily. Ask how you slept, how you felt around others, and how your mood shifted. If something feels off, talk to a professional. You give yourself more choices when you act sooner

You can start with one small step today. Pick one tip from the image and try it. Notice how you feel before and after. Share it with someone you trust.
You can ask for help. It moves you forward.

Slow your breath. Count to four. Do it four times.

Five minutes of effort beats none. Start with five.

Take a short walk. Your stress can drop.

Write one worry down. Challenge it with one fact.

Send one honest text to someone you trust. Stay connected.

Set a bedtime. Most adults feel better with 7 to 9 hours.

Drink water. Dehydration raises fatigue and irritability.

Track one win today. Small wins build momentum.

If today felt heavy, try again tomorrow. You still have options.

When I meet clients, I ask about sleep, appetite, and interest in daily life. These shifts often signal rising stress or low mood. If you see these changes in yourself, book time with your GP or a therapist. Early support gives you clearer options.

The way you talk to yourself shapes the way you move through the world. If your inner voice is harsh or unforgiving, it becomes harder to grow. Try speaking to yourself the way you speak to someone you love: with patience and understanding. You deserve that kind of kindness from yourself.

I’m learning that taking care of my mind is one of the meaningful investments I can make. It’s not always glamorous, sometimes it’s choosing rest over productivity, but every small act of care adds up. Here’s to honouring mental wellbeing with the same dedication we give to everything else in life.

"Oh my God" she says, "you can't tell me that, that's too much identifiable information and could enable me to work out who you are talking about!" A middle-aged guy in Glasgow with a King Billy tattoo? Good luck with that! 😀 *I should be fair and point out my colleague is not from Scotland. 4/4

Mentioned to a colleague* that I had a client whose name I kept getting wrong. "What do you mean?" she said. "Well he's got a large tattoo of King Billy on his forearm and I keep addressing him as Billy" was my response. 3/4
