Use device emulation when the DUT needs ARP resolution before forwarding. Without it, the DUT drops traffic because there is no ARP entry for the destination.

To find path MTU, configure a stream with incrementing frame length from 64 to 9000. The largest size that gets through without loss is your path MTU.

Ostinato user scripts moved from QtScript (Qt5) to QJSEngine (Qt6). Existing scripts mostly work - the main changes are in how the engine evaluates and returns values.

Ostinato 1.3.0 had a regression - Show Reserved Ports Only broke the port statistics display. Fixed in the next version. Workaround: toggle the option off and on.

The Ostinato agent (drone) runs next to the DUT - it does the actual packet send/receive. The GUI controller can run anywhere - even across the WAN. They talk over TCP.

The port rates display shows aggregate Packets/sec, Bits/sec, and Load % for all active streams. Change the aggregate rate and it distributes proportionally across streams.

Ostinato had a bug importing large PCAPs (600MB+) on Windows - it crashed. Fixed now, and the fix also made PCAP import significantly faster.
