I would have loved to get a lip-reader to tell us what Justices Breyer and Thomas were talking to each other about off-mic during the Masterpiece Cakeshop oral arguments.

Just as the "epidemic of divorce" in the 1970's was women who had been stuck in bad marriages, unable to divorce (for multiple reasons, legal and societal), having had some of those barriers removed so they could obtain greater freedom and safety in leaving the marriage.

A fun rabbit hole to go down is how the same city name in different US states can be pronounced differently. Louisville in KY vs. CO, San Jose in TX vs. IL, Des Moines in IA vs. WA, etc.

Maybe that connects to the Blue Prince mansion.
A room image labeled "Pump Room". It includes a gear icon and has the ability, "Control water flow throughout the Estate".

I don't know if it has a name, but a similar situation is where everybody is afraid to be the first person to speak out publicly, because they're afraid that the wrath of the evildoer in question will come down on them.

That's legit how I say it. On those rare occasions where I need to pluralize it, at least. Usually in the context of pluralizing brand names like they're ordinary English words (e.g. Legos).

So what would be removed is the requirement that income be taxed at one rate. Since there was already an exception that tax credits could be at different rates, and all income could be taxed at different rates if this amendment passes, the exception would be redundant. (3/3)

Originally, it said: "...require all taxable net income to be taxed at one rate, excluding refund tax credits or voter-approved tax credits, with no added tax or surcharge." If the Amendment passes, this would say: "...require all taxable net income to be taxed with no added surcharge." (2/3)

The false claim that I saw was that the amendment would eliminate "tax credits". And while the words "tax credits" would be removed from one section of the Constitution, the context is important... (1/3)

One possibility: He told her that he'd be going to a remote planet that wouldn't allow off-world communication for a while, and it hadn't been long enough to concern her yet. Only after he is incommunicado for longer than expected is he retroactively marked missing since the date of last contact.

Perhaps they got engaged just before Korby left in "New Life and New Civilizations", or remotely after that. Uhura in "Tomorrow's Enterprise" may not have been reacting to hearing about their impending marriage for the first time, but instead reacting to Chapel's excitement about it.

by the *administration. Immigration courts are not part of the judicial branch. Immigration judges are employees of the executive branch, and many who had been deciding petitions in ways contrary to the administration's wishes have been fired and replaced.

The majority opinion does say that the system can now be used to perform "individualized" searches. The lower court prevented that, but with the Supreme Court's stay of that order, they can be performed again. Only bulk de-registration is banned in the 90 days before an election.
An excerpt from the majority opinion. The highlighted bit reads, "To be sure, that moratorium limits the potential impact of staying the District Court's order in this case. Still, all agree that the order prevents the Federal Government from using the modified SAVE program to conduct individualized (last word in italics for emphasis) inquiries, which are permitted under federal law during this period."

I would have guessed "sci-fa" to mean "science fact", to contrast fact vs. fiction. I'm guessing his answer would then be "The Rough Guide to the Universe" (2003).

That's not wrong, just against some style guides. In English class (c. 1988), I was taught to use an apostrophe to pluralize letters, numbers, and abbreviations that end with a period. Mind your p's and q's, cross your t's and dot your i's, he has three Ph.D.'s, and welcome to the 60's.

When I open the YouTube website, I make a queue from my main and subscriptions pages, then let it play. If a video has title/thumbnail A when I add it to my queue, and title/thumbnail B when it finally comes up in the queue, I'm curious which one takes "credit" for my view. Do you know?

Right, that existing stay means this is much less of an "emergency" issue than so many of the others that have come in over the past 20 months. That affords them some time to actually write rather than just rush with an unexplained decision.

I don't remember these being a thing at Bradley University (Peoria, IL) in the mid- to late '90's. Certainly possible that they were used in some classes, but generally my tests were on either Scantron (fill in the bubble) or just ordinary paper.
