Nary a poem nor song had prepared me for the wonderous joy I would feel when I began inking while actually figuring out my brush for the first time. Shit's NOICE

I'm excited for when this account transitions from a digital art diary to actually posting comics and commissions one day. I'm learning to be patient with myself and this is the farthest I've ever gotten in my pursuit of drawing, for now that's reward enough 💕🎨

Today I was reminded that drawing hands is hell for newbies, but I toughed it out. They look like hands and the poses read well, they'll look actually good once I get used to drawing them. Hands could be fun for some NSFW study sheets in the future.

Meet Arachlynn, the first SOUR VOID TYPE Waiferial! 🕸️🌟 I’ve always loved characters with an extra pair of arms (Ranni!), so I really wanted to create my own! She might be my favorite so far... but don’t tell the others. Enjoy the spider girl!

The reference drawing has definitely helped. Learning to separate the ideas of reference drawing and straight up copying in my head and it's done wonders so far. Hoping to turn this into a character bc I really like the vibe of this design so far. #nsfwart #newartist #nsfw

Frequently run into the block of "oh idk how I want this part to look until I know how I draw this other part" so I'm letting myself dart around back and forth. I can do things in order when I know how to shape the pieces to put them together.

Continuing to draw more (and more of) male bodies until I find the flow of the body. Starting to limit the number of lines to convey the same form, that should put my malnourished art brain into creative simplify mode.

Starting to design Henry and get a flow down for drawing male bodies. Finding my style, I suppose. Gotta remember to take it slow and not overcomplicate things. Leaving it here for tonight. Only way out of this mental block is through.

Wanted to draw before bed last night but had no ideas. So I said fuck it, haven't drawn from reference in a hot minute I'll do as much as I can. Wasn't comfortable mimicking the style of my ref but holy crap the other practice is paying off I guess.

An idea came up for an actually SHORT short comic (3-4 page MAX) involving the Umbra character I sketched up for last year's Halloween. It's not very spooky themed, but eh, might do it for this year's spooky month project.

🔞 PsillyPsuedonym @psillypsuedonym.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Finishing up the 2nd draft as I thumbnail pages along the way. This might end up being 10 or 11 pages. Why is it every time I start something new I overdo it? Lmao Also wanna do something for Spooky season again this year. Maybe use Umbra again, maybe something new.

The aforementioned thumbnailing of my practice comic. Some have too much detail for thumbnails, some are too lazy, but damn it I can read it so it works.

🔞 PsillyPsuedonym @psillypsuedonym.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Last doodle of him before I use proper references. It's the basic idea at least! Not pictured is his ponytail. Thinking maybe just below shoulder length hair? Don't have a name yet so he's just been put down as H (for human) in my wip notes. But the name Henry feels right atm

000

🔞 PsillyPsuedonym @psillypsuedonym.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

I think I've subconsciously been putting off using refs for this guy bc I know the characters I'm pulling from and don't want to feel like I'm straight up copying. But that's also stupid bc everything is derivative and I know I'll make it my own. Idk wtf Im doing yet, use the damn refs 🤣

100

🔞 PsillyPsuedonym @psillypsuedonym.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Got a bunch of WIP pages and designs that I might post later. The heat wave is one obstacle, but I'm also having trouble nailing down a head shape for my human in this practice comic. Might have to look up some references for ideas, bc I can get CLOSE but there's something off I can't pinpoint.

Finished the thumbnailing for pages 1 and 2 and have been trying to get a design down for the two characters. I think tomorrow I'll do some dedicated design time. The ugly temp character placeholders I draw make me so mad I stg I can't wait to replace them 👍

This 1st comic prep has successfully hyped me back up on doing art! Been needing to draw different junk for background stuff and I can just like...draw it? I went to do some faun legs and ram horns on the side to see if it was a fluke and it was so much easier than it was before!

Venasuar (Cabbidge), Polywhirl (Punchsidon), Graveler (Geometry), Venomoth (Venonessa), Jolteon (Ohmie), Kadabra (Kevin). I don't think I've lost a battle yet. These guys rule. Would love to have Alakazam and Gengar but Nintendo had to be weird with game design.

Most sequences are written down and split up by panels and I made a small overhead floorplan of the rooms to help me keep track of my angles. Next is thumbnailing and the scariest part of all...actually drawing.
