I want to highlight that this specimen was first described in 1985 (or 86?) and got discussed a few times afterwards. Other authors have seen the markings but dismissed the possibility of feather impressions.

It's almost as if it's a prototype tucked away in a remote area, while other volant swamphens look more finished.

Sharing some of my favourites from a friend - Hoang Dao. I like the complex flora depicted and how he frequently camouflages the animals a bit. (In order) Alert - Ghost of the Annamites - Forest Floor - Son Tra Spring.

I have not done #FossilFriday in a while, so here is a never-before-seen close-up of the metapodial hummocky scales from our Nemegt titanosaur manus ES-4, as described in our paper last month.

UALVP 45014, a putative Ischnacanthus gracilis specimen from the MOTH locality in NWT, Canada. Several exquisitely-preserved MOTH specimens unexpectedly turned up during our big move last year and were promptly returned to the fossil fish collection (after I snapped a few shots). #FossilFriday

Thrilled to see Albertan dinosaurs at the forefront of Walking with Dinosaurs's first images. We look forward to seeing sneak peeks from other folks' segments. 👀

I started in 2021, but 40% of my observations came from this year alone. Most of these are arthropods since I need help identifying them and I just got a macro-compatible flash setup this year. The birdies are still maintained separately over eBird.

Ischyromys from the White River Group is one of the oldest true rodents. The specimen from our teaching collection still has some nicely-preserved bilophodont molars. #FossilFriday

There is still 30 minutes before the end of the day in my time zone, so have a replacement tooth from the holotype of Stegoceras validum for #FossilFriday.

Finally set up a Blue Sky account in time for #FossilFriday! Hey all, I'm wrapping up my MSc on centrosaurines while searching for a PhD or museum position (visa life). In the meantime, enjoy this pretty Centrosaurus skull from our collections, the articulated neck is stuck right under the frill.
