I actually got to do PR fun things again last night lol! Got a preview of the Christmas menu from a local restaurant. Yes, there was a bit of work, but mainly it was just a bit of a knees up lol. After a busy few weeks it was a nice change of pace!

It's been on my bucket list for a while so, today... I tried chickens feet. Here is the Cantonese steamed version. It was tricky to eat, but tasty. The sauce was delicious. I also tried cold, boneless, sweet Thai feet (not pictured). That was not for me. And what is dim sum without dumpings!

Diet last week was awful, so behold! Tofu, raw veg, blanched veg, pickled veg and a spicy sauce! It could be vegan, but I used a teaspoon of fish sauce, so... Enjoy the nutritents body!

I've not had a hospitality invite for a while, but this evening I got to see Sweeny Todd - a new production by the Birmingham Rep Theatre, together with a talk from the producer and on stage tour. Amazing to think this is all conceived and created in my home town.

And so another amazing Birmingham Cocktail Weekend comes to a close. Year 12 has probably been the best year. Everything I've tried has been a bit interesting and showed the real skill in my city. No gin and juice here! Today was a chilled day with the besties.

I had the honour to attend this person's retirement tonight. It hit me harder than expected I've known her for 15 years, running an amazing youth homelessness charity. I never worked for her but I didn't realise how observing her has had a profound effect on how I work. Genuine, true leadership

My good friend and one of my cooking inspirations, Dan, put me on to chimichurri. I've always find it to be that "meh" sauce for a steak. I like it, bit it's not my go to. Dan kindly shared his recipe and nudged me to use it on salads. Now this has become my meal saver - salads,meat, everything lol

This is one of my favourite mid week meals. It punches in terms of flavour vs effort. The only special ingredient is shittake mushrooms which you could probably leave out. It takes about 45 minutes to cook: most of that is waiting. 2 pans and a couple of bowls. Minimal heat (ideal for summer).
