It turns out, the glue that held the checks and balances together was made of principles and courage. And we just friggin ran out of both.

Hey, I'm glad we have such a strong president. And his personal errand boy, that Trump fella, is OK too.

Well he's dangerous because we gave him the keys to everything. Hey, ignorant childish vengeful narcissist, here's complete control of our entire state, revenue, intelligence and legal systems and the world's most powerful military -- do whatever you think is best

Oh my God -- "free stuff"! Communism! Marxism! Wait... I'm just getting word that this is 100% bullshit... OK nevermind, whew that was close. But gas prices will definitely come down after the election, right?

Well, imagine if Trump were president during Watergate. He would just "fake news fake news" it out of existence. He has Watergate level scandals every day. So it's understandable that he'd wonder what's the big deal.

How can a president "cut off all trade" with Europe? Why does he get to decide who we trade with? I thought we were all about capitalism and free markets?

What's worse, the lie, or the open bribery for votes? "If we win you get paid"?? It's like mob tactics except completely out in the open. Do we all get our kneecaps busted if they lose?

Well, those babies had it coming. I mean, Trump must know what he's doing (because he's rich) and I love how it triggers the libs. It was different when Obama did it though. Obama's a baby killer.

I think unlikely, at least in 2028. If any of them are the nominee then yes. I'm all for them. That's my point. Whoever is the nominee -- more likely a compromise candidate -- we have to be all for them.

pseudoburrito.bsky.social @pseudoburrito.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I know, it was hypothetical, I said if you had to choose from "an" Obama or "a" Trump. Neither is running in 2028 either. You're avoiding the question -- I get what you're saying but we're only gonna have a choice between a corporate R (Vance, Rubio, etc.) and a corporate D (Newsome, Jeffreys, etc)
100 1
pseudoburrito.bsky.social @pseudoburrito.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
But if you had to choose between an Obama or a Trump -- and those were your only options -- which would you choose?

But if you had to choose between an Obama or a Trump -- and those were your ONLY options -- which would you choose? Those are our only choices. Holding out for an ideal utopian Gandhi candidate only leads to more Trumps.

"Cope." I'm sick of coping with Trump and the authoritarians. The house is burning down, and some D's are still focused on repainting. This is an all-hands emergency. Put the damn flames out, get the arsonists out, or we'll be painting ashes.

The problem is, R's have latched onto a winning message that will resonate with the dumber half of voters for decades: "D's are evil, Marxist murderers who hate America." Simple but effective. So one false move by a D administration and we'll be back to President Pillow Guy or President Rittenhouse.

He believes it. He makes his own reality. His ego REQUIRES that his rating be 65% (or that he won the election, etc). After he says a lie for the first time it is fact. After he says it 100 times it's a fact that "everyone knows". This is why he's such a convincing liar -- he really believes it.

He won't campaign or run in the conventional way -- he can't. But he sure as hell won't leave willingly. He'll do whatever he has to do. Starting new wars, declaring state of emergency, martial law, suspending elections, etc.

They think of him as strong and tough because 1) they believe the "ruthless business genius" myth, and 2) he wields his power in the same cruel, ignorant, impulsive way that they would, if they could The weak-man's-idea-of-a-strong-man principle.

I think Trump is playing around with scenarios and tactics for manufacturing bigger national emergencies closer to the elections ('26 and '28). He's learning, and he's conditioning us at the same time. By '28, assuming Arby's doesn't get him first, he'll have a playbook for staying in power past '28

Aside from being a distraction from Epstein, I'm worried Mr. "Nobel Peace Prize" is generally building his chops for provoking wars because he's gonna need wars to declare national emergencies, declare martial law, and suspend elections, to further consolidate power and stay in the WH indefinitely

It's so gross and juvenile the way they had to brand the thing, "PURSUING PEACE", like it's some deep intellectual paperback novel. How about pursuing peace by getting the murdering, torturing, rapist war criminals the fuck out of the country they invaded unprovoked?

I don't even see it as historical revisionism. It's only, "Nazi" comes from "National Socialist" party, which has the word "socialist" in it. To idiots, socialist = communist, so that gives idiots like Musk a "well actually" that makes them feel smart. Musk doesn't put any thought into anything
