I took up a new hobby two weeks ago (not that I had a lack of hobbies in the first place,): drawing ! I haven't really drawn since I was a kid, and I'm just a beginner, but it's quite fun to do. After finally seeing Dune Part Two yesterday, I just drew this. #mastoart #art #drawing #sketch #dune

Depicted is Paul Atreides aka Muad'Dib, the lead character from Dune (author Frank Herbert) by actor Timothee Chalamet. Only his fiercely blue eyes (from the spice) are visible under a mask that protects him from the desert sand.

[Original post on social.anaproy.nl]

Aww...I think she's trying to send a message that she wants to play! Mind you, her toy basket is on the opposite end of the room. She dragged them all here. #kooikerhondje #dog #hund #hond #chien #perro #狗 #awww

The past year has been the year where I rediscovered flightsimming, something I already loved to do as a kid! It's been hundreds of flight hours and too many euros on fancy flight equipment and virtual planes.... but we're having fun! #xplane #aviation #flightsim #vatsim

My new t-shirt arrived a while back and I took a selfie with it today. I feel like an ambassador to the United Federation of the Fediverse now! 🖖 Danke @Lioh #fediverse #selfie

🛩 As a young teenager, I used to be extremely fond of MS Flight Simulator. After not having played for over two decades, I took this hobby up again during the holidays last December; I bought some fancy equipment, and took to the virtual skies again. I'm […] [Original post on social.anaproy.nl]

How am I supposed to peel all these stickers I got at #fosdem2025 off their backing ?? I'm a software-guy, peeling off physical stickers is actually hard !

A bunch of FOSS stickers on a desk, left of an x13s thinkpad laptop with some stickers on it already. At the top a keyboard and a pen with Sxmo branding.

#nwo #twexit

Screenshot of the NWO website with a news post stating they stop using twitter, but social media links still point there.

The only end-of-the year 'wrap' I like to post is the one from #bookwyrm, a fediverse platform for tracking and sharing all books you read. I'd say 2024 was a decent #reading year for me. See […] [Original post on social.anaproy.nl]

This is a nice day to be working on man pages for #sxmo , and ensure our documentation is all up to date, as on this day in 1971 the first edition of the man pages were published in the Unix Programmer's Manual. Documentation only works if it's complete […] [Original post on social.anaproy.nl]

B: Great, does he already know anything about our system?
Jim: I read the whole documentation
A and B look at eachother, A then says: "no"

99,9% of smartphone users already enjoyed seeing a clock and status icons on their phone's lockscreen. Now we #sxmo users are joining the mainstream crowd (something we do only reluctantly if we really need to, and in our own hackable & minimalist way!). I […] [Original post on social.anaproy.nl]

Yesterday evening we attended a beautiful #starwars #concert in #eindhoven, performed by the Ukrainian International Symphony Orchestra and the National Choir of Ukraine "Dumka''. I must say, the theme of a fight against an evil empire surely gets an extra dimension this way. 🇺🇦

Six starwars cosplay figures with Darth Vader prominently in the center holding up a red light saber.

Nice presentation by Magnus Ahltorp at the #CLARIN2024 conference about "word rain", a visualisation technique that retains the simplicity of a word cloud, but making the results more semantically meaningful and interpretable. (source at github.com/CDHUppsala/word-rain)

A word cloud extracted from a corpus on climate change, which shows words along a semantic axis rather than arbitrarily mixed.
