Yes, I solved the problem - but if I had known about the buildup of grit I could have solved it SOONER and less expensively. She’ll have to see if the company will accept a return on the parts (I rather doubt they will, being electronic.)

Turns out that neither were required. The problem was caused by a buildup of fine grit all around the controller board, particularly around the power transistor. Cleaned it all off with canned dusting gas, and the problem was eliminated!

Well, that was kinda frustrating. Customer brought in a “Pet Dryer” for repairs. It “Thumps” when it’s turned off - little bursts of power to the motor. I knew it had to be electrical, and this unit had both a rheostat board and a controller board. The customer ordered both boards.
