Trans people in Australia report a range of barriers that make it challenging to participate or prevent them from participating. Regular participation in sport/fitness was associated with significantly lower psychological distress and 40% less odds of recent thoughts of self-harm and suicide.

Trans Health Research and collaborators recently conducted a national survey to learn more about the experiences of trans and gender diverse people in sport and fitness. This research shows that 1 in 3 trans people regularly participate in sport/fitness, compared to 70%+ of the general population.
