Speaking of older aesthetics, I really should get a second-hand Xbox 360 before they all get rare. I had one when I was younger but didn't ever get games for it so I sold it. I really did like the UI and controller though.

Anyway, I wrote all of that instead of working on fetish art or responsibilities so I hope somebody enjoys it. The usage of "retro" aesthetics means a lot to me, they're engaged in as much culture as modern "minimalist/void" aesthetics are. You can just like the aesthetic, it's fine if you do.

I've lost my focus on this but I hope it comes across correctly. These elements still exist and we may still find a future in them if we not only borrow the elements we enjoy but also evolve them to mean something more.

These devices are foreign now, products of a different time. The Dreamcast is unrecognizable compared to the Switch, Windows now is an entirely different OS from Windows of yesteryear. These ideas still live if you engage with them as they were, through whatever means possible.

purpose to you. If that means childhood or youth and nothing more then enjoy that sensation. I still get nostalgic using my Vita and PS3, they represent a specific time for me but they also mean something more. They're flawed and highly-singular devices, nothing I've ever used feels like them.

Even with all these posts, I'm not able to fully articulate my view on this. This is not an argument to data-hoard everything (though I do somewhat agree) nor to embrace new technology wholeheartedly but to decide what these aesthetics mean to you. To meaningfully engage with them, they must hold-

persist as we believed they would. While so much has been lost or abandoned, it is not too late to maintain these ideas and enact the world we believed to exist. This new era has and will be defined by greater individualism, just as the counter-force for collective security continues to grow.

We are losing history from this era at an astounding rate. Everything from early MMOs to console storefronts are closing and not for bad reasons but there is a demand to maintain these services, just not a financial demand. There is a demand that the internet truly live forever, that these services-

Of course, it's always easier to look backwards and ignore the troublesome politics of the era these aesthetics come from. This is not to say that nostalgic mindsets are superior or we should encourage them but rather that we should encourage how we perceive these aesthetics.

We've grown impatient and consumed with data. Novelties like game leaks and unfinished song demos are now international affairs, hyper-connected to underground markets and driven by social mechanics that encourage burning as bright as possible.

byproducts of these design choices. Frutiger Aero reminds us of a world where we - just couldn't wait - to be connected to everybody else, where the websites we enjoyed seemed so small and the vastness of the world so large. Instead, our world shrinks with every byte of consumed information.

My issue is not with the algorithms themselves but rather with how they serve to disconnect the user from conscious experience. It's opaque and fails to connect the user to the sources of information that they seek to connect themselves to. Rage bait and clickbait are (economically prosperous)-

Modern aesthetics are often separated from conscious user-motivated design. Twitter alone has twenty tabs of bullshit that requires ANOTHER app just to solve, Reddit has gone from a somewhat-authentic front page with headline style formats to an algorithmic "for you" page.

I know Vaporwave and Frutiger Aero and Y2K aesthetics are deeply ingrained within nostalgia but there's something so irreplaceable about adhering to those philosophies. I think the adoption of these trends (even AI slop) is the deep desire to want highly individualized and conscious decision-making
