"Paid for by the U.S. Government"? By siphoning funds from agency budgets meant for border security and fallen officer memorials, the Trump admin is trying to build a massive propaganda apparatus ahead of the midterms. We're not buying it, Tova Kaplan explains: protdem.org/4hmADq8
It’s possible, though, that these ads could be meant for something broader than just driving support to Republicans. In the event of a win for the opposition in the 2026 midterms, the Trump administration might use these ads to question the results themselves. Trump could place ads, with the seeming endorsement “Paid for by the U.S. Government,” on news stations and broadcast shows to advance false claims about the election.

The stakes are high for our democracy. ➡️ Unchecked surveillance creates a chilling effect on First Amendment rights and deters citizens from holding power accountable.
"The government is treating people who exercise their First Amendment rights and seek to hold it accountable as criminal suspects, and that's what we're asking the court to stop,” said JoAnna Suriani, counsel at Protect Democracy.
