It was a bug in earlier versions of Flash when using the brush inside of a symbol when it’s flipped. They have since fixed the bug unfortunately.

The episode had a huge character count, WBA doesn't keep their model sheets on hand and it would've taken too long to acquire all of them, we cut corners to get it done.

If you've ever tried exporting raster images from Adobe Animate and end up with crunchy bitmaps in the export it's because you have to find the bitmap in the Animate library and change its properties from Photo to Lossless. I'm still learning things.

I can't believe how long this has been an issue. I'm sorry but the team at Adobe are something else...

It's not completely verified but we were reworking a stock BG today directly with the BG artist. After importing the new BG into Flash all of the gradients they had copied and flipped in AI were reversed. So we had them recreate those elements without flipping in AI and they imported perfectly.

After decades, we finally discovered what causes a bug in Flash when importing art from Illustrator and gradients or linework gets scrambled. It's due to artwork being flipped in Illustrator. When imported into Flash, it's trying to correct the flip or the -180 in the transformation is reverted.

A scene from Joey to the World animated by Rob Lilly III. I'm sure Joey strobes on the pan. I don't let this technique of camera/character pans slide anymore (that's a pun.) #cartoonstitute #flashanimation #adobeanimate #cartoonguts #craigkellman

Instead of focusing on AI, I think software developers should first figure out how to make prompts pop up in the same monitor you're using the software in when using a multiple monitor set up. I would be so much more efficient with that simple fix.

030

Eric J. Pringle @prophetbuddy.com · 16/06/2026

yes. It's more of a process getting Flash art into Illustrator without losing quality in all the versions after MX2004.

020

Eric J. Pringle @prophetbuddy.com · 15/06/2026

If I had the choice I’d still be using MX2004 because of its compatibility with Illustrator.

Me and Nick Bertonazzi Jr. I left CNS before it was finished they might have hired someone to help Nick finish it. If they did it was probably Joe Apel.
