Good. I want my tax dollars to help people. My dream is that I don’t have to run a nonprofit that advocates for a stronger safety net while also providing free meals to the community because the government decided to take care of its people. Until then, Project Sauce will continue to do the work

Well.. today, I made 40 meals for @projectsaucenyc.bsky.social using a recipe John and Abagail used for their Independence Day dinners. I also cooked like 50 of a Mac and cheese dish that James Hemings, the chef enslaved by Jefferson used to make.

120 meals to the fridge and 15 more directly to a family. Sometimes, the world feels bleak. That’s where community comes in. Community action brings hope. And in the words of Harvey Milk, ya gotta give em hope.

For those struggling in Atlanta (and I was ABSOLUTELY one of you after a hit and run on my bike left me bedridden for way past my finances), please check out Metro Atlanta Urban Farm in East Point (a short walk from the train). They taught me a lot while also feeding me fresh vegetables. Love them.

117 meals today. Bolognese or Cannellini in Tomato Sauce (not pictured) We’re not naive enough to think one meal will end hunger, but we are bold enough to believe each meal distributed is a step toward the change we desperately need Poverty is a policy choice and we choose something better
