Global Project Oasis | Discover insights in digital news from Africa
The Project Oasis team, and a local panel of experts, introduced the addition of digital media profiles from seven African countries to this global research initiative. The panelists offered a cross-regional perspective on the media ecosystem in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa, and drew on data from the global directory to explore the trends, challenges, and opportunities that these markets share with other parts of the world. The event brought together media leaders from the continent and partners that support journalism development to discuss how to strengthen sustainability, innovation, and collaboration in the industry. Project Oasis, led by SembraMedia with support from the Google News Initiative, has mapped and analyzed the ecosystem of independent news organizations in more than 70 countries.
