The targeted defunding of science on diversity, equity, & inclusion means that we'll all know less about the world outside our window. @alanyhyu.bsky.social reports on what that looks like at the science nonprofit, Project Implicit (@projectimplicit.bsky.social) whyy.org/articles/soc...

Millions used a research website to test their biases. Now the funding has dried up
Two local researchers explain why the site matters to their work, and the field of social psychology.

Incredibly grateful to the folks who have committed $5,000 to Project Implicit since our announcement of matching funds last week! A generous donor is currently offering an additional $1,000 for any individual or group donation of $1,000 or more. Group gifts can be coordinated with our team.
Alt text: Illustration of a blue envelope opening to reveal a white card reading “$10,000 Donated” with the message “Thank you to our individual donors and matching donor!” The Project Implicit logo appears on the card, with a bright orange background and celebratory burst pattern behind the envelope.

Thank you for supporting Project Implicit. With the additional $3K not included on the landing page, we’ve raised $6,763 or 13.5% of our goal in less than a month. Please help us protect scientific integrity and expand access to research and education by sharing. 4agc.com/landing/impl...

From a Project Implicit participant: "Took an IAT today. Results showed something about how I think that I didn’t realize was there. Grateful to you for the insight. Still thinking about it a few hours later." To support realizations like this, please consider donating: 4agc.com/donate/impli...

On average, more than 50,000 people visit Project Implicit each week. That’s almost 300 people every hour! If that kind of public research infrastructure matters to you, help us keep it alive: 4agc.com/donate/impli...

Got a DM if we were really serious about closing, and yes, we've reached that inflection point. But we’re trying to stop that from happening! We need help connecting to funders or sponsors who might provide bridge funds as we design the next chapter. Who in your network would be open to a chat?

Thank you for donating, boosting, and reaching out this week! One more ask: Who should we be talking to? If you are willing to make an intro to a funder, company, foundation, or individual who cares about science, research infrastructure, or public education, please DM or tag us.

People show up to “take a test,” but what they actually experience is a tiny research lab about their own mind. It’s a chance to stand inside the research itself. Support Project Implicit's work by making a donation here: 4agc.com/donate/impli... Every dollar counts.

Please consider a donation sustain this critical service for research and education about implicit social cognition. The website has generated very useful data and discussion to understand the strengths, weaknesses, and processes of implicit measurement.

Project Implicit is facing an existential threat. After almost 30 years, 60 million visitors, and hundreds of published papers, funding for our work has disappeared. We’ve never held a fundraising drive before, but we need your support to keep our site running. Please consider donating! 🙏

Project Implicit has helped millions of people notice how automatic associations shape judgment. That moment of recognition has fueled decades of research into how human minds work in the real world. Help protect this work and keep the website free and open. Donate here: 4agc.com/donate/impli...

Project Implicit is a research nonprofit behind tools millions use to understand bias. Like many public science orgs, sustaining this work has become increasingly difficult. We are at risk of closing without additional support. Help protect this impt work by donating here: 4agc.com/donate/impli...

If you use Project Implicit and/or the IAT in your classes, trainings, or programs, would you share how? Your answers help us protect and improve the public science millions rely on. The survey takes under 2 minutes. form.typeform.com/to/LZgLPuZm Thank you for keeping this work alive. 💜

New research using Project Implicit data reveals gender disparities in civil trial teams. While representation has improved slightly over time, leadership roles show little progress. Gender bias "in the air" still shapes the legal field.
