Fun fact: This is an early level with two obvious paths. When I originally made it, one path was clearly superior. But replaying it now using mid-to-late-game tactics like driving backwards, the “inferior” path suddenly became the best route!

It is when I flag the level as done. So that I don't needlessly create new images.

Programming Pigeon @programmingpigeon.bsky.social · 08/08/2026
The screenshots are made of real level screenshots. I make them with a tool so that they are automatically the right size and get linked to the level in question. I could make it that they get made/updated when the player plays a level, but I am not sure if it will be that noticeable at that size.

And it is more fun to put together than a "normal" level selection!

Thank you! It is mostly visual flavour. Each picture represents a level (with the image being a snapshot of the level). And the connections showing the level order.

The level selection in #ProgrammedToExecute is now an evidence board. So I guess it's really good at pinning down the evidence of your progress! -record scratch- Wishlist now: store.steampowered.com/app/4891660/... #ScreenshotSaturday #IndieDev #GameDev #SoloDev #PuzzleGame #Programming

I will also leave the story to a minimum for the demo as that is still quite unpolished. And then for the steamfest (the coming one or the one after that). I can do a demo with controller/steamdeck support and also more story!

Programming Pigeon @programmingpigeon.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
Thank you! I have thought a bit more about it and I will try my best to get a demo ready anyway for the fest that fits my game. I was at the moment busy with adding controller support, but I will put that aside for now, as for my type of game, people who use a controller will be minority anyway.

Programming Pigeon @programmingpigeon.bsky.social · 25/07/2026
There is soon a fest that would fit my game perfectly, but I don't feel like I have enough time to create a fully tested and polished demo. I also don't want to rush it and risk leaving a bad impression. Is a wishlist page enough? And do you have any recommendations of other things I can do?

It is certainly a nice-sounding title, but it makes me think more of a programming game where the theme is pure programming and technology. And I still want a bit of the focus on the "Your code results in action!"-feel

Thank you! Today, I did think of a third option: "Programmed To Execute" I am not sure if the keyword execute is also a problem, but where it is a problem I could go for "Programmed To .Exe" But ofcourse it is even longer than "Programmed To Kill"

I wanted to name my game Programmed To Kill, but I was worried the word “Kill” might hurt visibility on social media. I switched to Instructed Intervention, but now I’m unsure again Which title is better? Instructed Intervention Programmed To Kill #GameDev #IndieDev #IndieGames #FeedbackWanted

So to make QA efficient for me as solo dev: -I test mechanics in sandbox and levels. -I also use a save file with multiple solutions for each level. I run these often automatically to see if everything still work as intended. -And when I test with people, I see what they do and what happens.

Programming Pigeon @programmingpigeon.bsky.social · 25/04/2026
Then how the combinations of different elements can create a wide variety of solutions. I build puzzles with intended solutions, but don't limit the player to them. Players creativity is core! My philosophy: Solving the puzzle should be "easy". But optimising the solutions brings the challenge!

Programming Pigeon @programmingpigeon.bsky.social · 25/04/2026
So for the interactions of different mechanics: For this I mostly test during development in a sandbox level trying to test all edge cases I can think of. Then when I make puzzles and test them, I also see how the elements interact and adjust and fix them where needed.

Programming Pigeon @programmingpigeon.bsky.social · 25/04/2026
Good question! I guess the edge cases can be on two levels. First of all how the different mechanics interact with each other. And then the other how the different elements in each puzzle can create many possibilities to solve the puzzle I will need multiple messages.
