Does going to an MTG prerelease at my local game store count as touching grass, or only if I play a green deck?

Okay, great. Just cleared up my schedule, and sent.

Assuming I don't have to cancel due to work, I'm hoping to bring a revised version of That One Old Au Ra from the Evercold trailer.

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Not sure I can make it, since I might have to help with a trial that entire week. :/

It's also important to add that if you're still not sure about a contract, you can contact an attorney! I can't speak about non-US countries, but if you are concerned about cost, pretty much every county in the US has some sort of lawyer referral service for a free or lower cost consultation.

It's always a fun day when you can show up to work (well, volunteering) looking like this.

So yeah, i made it onto Gallery 3 of this. Still doesnt feel like it was a thing I actually did.

I already messaged them about this clasp, so I understand that entirely.

A picture of an old Au Ra from the Evercold teaser trailer. A shoulder clasp is visible on the right shoulder.

I need to give a shoutout to the #AOTA conference that happened at the same time as #fanfest. What a wonderful bunch of people to be so warm and open-minded! I’m 99% sure I jump scared quite a few people but the interactions were always pleasant and they were quickly down to clown. 😂 #ffxiv #ff14

I was the Koana in the second photo. Man was that walk simultaneously fun and terrifying.

Now that I'm recovering from Fanfest, it seems like a good time to repost my other cosplay, the 5.3 version of the Crystal Exarch. There are so many people I saw, and so many I missed, but it was fantastic. Definitely want to try to go back again.

A cosplay of the Crystal Exarch from patch 5.3.

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 26/04/2026

Thanks for the photo! I'm the Koana in the second pic. This was my first fanfest, and I'm really glad I was able to make it.

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 25/04/2026

I have really been enjoying Fanfest so far. I even got to participate in Glamoured to Life with a group! A photo from the stream:

Koana, a Pictomancer, and a Viper confronting Calyx and Halmarut.

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 23/04/2026

Someday I will learn to use social media, and use it regularly without crashing out. In unrelated news, here is what I'll be cosplaying for Fanfest, which I should have done days ago! (Okay, these two points are actually related.)

My cosplay lineup for FFXIV Fanfest. Friday is Koana from the Dawntrail expansion, and Saturday is the Crystal Exarch from Shadowbringers, specifically patch 5.3.

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 16/04/2026

*waves* But then again, you already knew that.

010

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 05/04/2026

Really hoping I'll have the time to get my new boot covers done today. The next couple weeks at work are going to suck up tons of my time.

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 25/03/2026

That was my life last year re: Koana. I still dont get some of those belt straps under the arms.

000

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 25/03/2026

Yeah. I almost feel like we should set up some kind of a Tekko-related mini meet at Fanfest.

111

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 25/03/2026

I think i saw that Niho's group got in, too. We're gonna have a lot of familiar faces on stage at fanfest.

110

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

Oh, and also, I'm going to be part of a Dawntrail group at Glamoured to Life at FFXIV Fanfest. Just got the email that our group got in today.

191

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

Congrats! I can't wait to see it in person! (I'm gonna be there too, as part of a Dawntrail group with my Koana. This whole thing is going to be so fun.)

010

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 04/03/2026

Crap. My WoL probably has a few tax arrest warrants to clear up, then. That or bribes, since I'm sure Uldah makes those tax deductible.

There's an easy solution to that: talk to other GMs who will never, ever be in that campaign about said puzzle box. Like, online if an IRL game, or vice versa, if possible.

010

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

I've been having that worry the whole time I've cosplayed, since I started relatively 'late' (my mid 30s).

100

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 01/02/2026

Okay... still on kind of a high the next morning, and it still hasn't sunk in. So I'll just post a couple photos and call it a day for now. Cosplay pic is by @thevariant.bsky.social

Me, dressed in his hand-made cosplay of Koana from Final Fantasy XIV, Dawntrail.

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 19/01/2026

I might be. DM me a link, and we'll find out if its the one I'm thinking of or not.

110

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 19/01/2026

I think that would also work with Brute Bomber. He's showing off his new adopted cats (Koana, Retsarra, Neyuni, maybe even Eutrope and Yanna) looking angry.

110

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 19/01/2026

Im still hoping to get other people for a Dawntrail group in general, because I want to bring Koana there.

110

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 12/11/2025

Absolutely. I saw Lutavia was going too, and at the least I also want to thank them in person for all the help they gave me on the Crystal Exarch cosplay.

010

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 12/11/2025

Oh! Also Setsucon in January. (I'll definitely be going to Tekko again next July, but it's a bit early to talk about that.)

110

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 12/11/2025

Breaking my (half-successful) social media shutoff to say that I'll be going to AGDQ, MAGFest, and FFXIV FanFest, in that order. Hope to see a lot of you there at one or more of those.

160

ProfWinter @profwinter.bsky.social · 10/11/2025

Just got one myself! This'll be my first Fanfest.
