Hey @senbillferg.bsky.social. We need to pass HB1222. 287(g) agreements make MD unsafe, especially in light of ICE's abuses. 287g costs Marylanders money (just ask Nashville) & studies show they lead to racial profiling & loss of community trust. We need less enmeshment w ICE, not more.

Although I rate the threat to Birthright Citizenship as fairly low, I think it's worth taking note of this: In Trump I, he talked (endlessly) about this but never actually tried to do it. In Trump II he did it. Same for revoking the "sensitive locations" policy. The shackles are off.

Dems are acting like Dooms Day begins Monday. It’s already begun. So disappointed at some of the Dem yeas here, who are signing onto *expanding* a bill that will lead to racial profiling, unfounded arrests, and will flood detention centers. Dems have given up already, and we are -5 days in.

Laken Riley Act passes the House. With 48 Dem votes. One attention-seeking state AG could sue to demand USCIS stop issuing visas to entire countries or overturn indivudal decisions. Would also require detention for theft-related arrests. Cue Arpaio & his ilk; no convictions necessary. It begins.
