Retire the clunkers - but make the transition fair Targeted EV replacement scheme not only cuts transport costs, it also improves road safety and accelerates fleet renewal Retire, Recycle, Replace, Recharge Ray Wills, Peter Newman & Howard Buckley thedriven.io/2026/10/04/i... @thedriven.io
The erosion of ICE is well underway, the adoption of electric vehicles is actually surging, and will only go faster as the 2026 oil crisis extends as conflict with Iran is maintained. But in a cost of living crisis the concflict brings, we now need to take measures to bring equity of access - and eliminate cars with emission from our roads.

Familiar with that context, but the overwhelming reason is hygiene. If you are standing next to the toilet with the lid up when you flush, guess what else the aerosols go. Humans coughing are worse than toilets - a more forceful aerosol ejection

Prof Ray Wills @profraywills.futuresmart.com.au · 09/09/2026
While closing the dunny lid before you flush may not keep all the aerosols in, rest assured it's much better than leaving the lid up In you bathroom, those aerosols will wander out and land on your toothbrush (along with the floor and every other surface) Put the toilet lid down before your flush
