What's your "origin" video game? Most gamers have a lot of favourite games, sure, but there's always one that basically 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 you. I'm talking about the game that flipped a switch in your brain and made into a life-long gamer. So, which game is 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨?

I got this for Christmas so I reckon it's going to be the first book of the year, although I'm still finishing Matt Dinniman's "In the City of Demons".

The cover of Stephen Fry's Odyssey, featuring an ancient Greek ship on rolling waves and a golden stab of lightning on the left-hand corner between the author's name and the title. Bottom centre is the caption "Can a hero find his way home?"

📚I remembered I had backed up this graphic novel on Kickstarter (or something: I'm ageing), but I hadn't checked when it was due,so it was a lovely surprise to get it today. It's really wonderful, @colleendoran.bsky.social you did such an awesome job! @goodomensnews.bsky.social #pratchett #goodomens

For my continuing series featuring #Critters in my #garden, here is our latest acquisition. I'm guessing it's a she because she's rather large, no less than 8cm. I've read that the presence of #prayingmantis means the garden is healthy and #biodiverse, is it true? I'd never seen one in over 50years!

A large green praying mantis perched on the side of a cactus plant in a terracotta vase. More succulent plants in another vase can be seen in the background. On the left, part of a solar garden decoration on a piece of tree trunk can be seen.

Forgot to post this yesterday for the Rum thingy over at @dwcon.org - here's a nice little hot drink they have here in the Austrian mountains 🥃 I guess it might be Nanny Ogg's nightcap 😂 #discworld #nannyogg

A bottle of rum punch called Strong Rum Punch; on its left, a glass of punch prepared with it. Both things are on a blue chequered tablecloth with red fruits on it. In the background there are some trees and it is possible to make out the shapes of two caravans.

🧶 So today I pulled out a pattern I've had for years and never tried - and of course I had to make it in a *totally different yarn*. People, let me give you the Willendorf Venus! (I just slightly re-engineered the headdress and added a subtle physical detail) #crochet #willendorfvenus #neolithic

A crocheted figure of a naked woman, a reproduction of the famous Willendorf Venus, a Neolithic statuette. The photo shows the front view. It's standing on a blue chequered tablecloth; in the background there are some trees and a white house on the left.

Seems that everyone is posting owls for #SuperbOwl, sorry to be late to the party but here I am with this pic I took 10 years ago at The Bird in Hand in Leicestershire where we were holidaying. Still one of the best AirBnbs I've ever been! This was one of their owls.

I loved how they staged the spinning and weaving activities in ancient Spain at the Museum of the History of Valencia ❤️ here's a peek!

A collection of everyday objects in medieval women's life in Spain - a comb, a small bowl, some needles and thimbles, a small spoon. At the bottom of the picture there are cards describing the objects

On the right, a spinning wheel; in the middle, a basket full of balls of wool; on the right, a square stool with a spinning spindle leaning on it. In the background, a scene from a video depicting a scene of spinning in ancient Spain

The rest of the room of the previous picture. On the right, the square stool with the spindle; a few baskets of wool on the floor; on the right, on the wall, a rack with more wool, possibly a vertical weaving loom. In the foreground, an overexposed view of the display case seen in the first picture.
