"the population implosion" Not a day goes by without the establishment press publishing an article about declining fertility rates in the capitalist core. I'm writing something substantial on this phenomenon, details of which I hope to share soon. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

it's never going to stop being hilarious that so many pundits, and not a few on the US "left," characterized the MAGA movement as "populist" in character.

"China — which processes nearly 90 percent of rare earths worldwide — holds a “near monopoly” over this step in the supply chain...Most major rare earth producers, including the U.S., lack the domestic know-how or infrastructure needed to refine the minerals, forcing them to rely on Beijing."

anyway, the move fast and break things circus seems amateurish & likely cover for the usual grift, spiced up with some pimply nihilism. If they happen to disrupt the functioning of defense, ICE, DoJ, etc., no tears. And who knows what can of worms is being opened up? what scenarios made plausible?

ask yourself this simple question: are near-future roving bands of 19 yo communist coders organized into expropriating "strike teams" more, or less, plausible than they were two months ago?

Who knows, maybe we've been witnessing future scenarios in inverted form this past month. Not hard to imagine a brazen middle-age communist with a roving band of Luigis showing up at Tesla, SpaceX, Amazon and elsewhere to strip out assets "with a chainsaw" & some cheap code. Life comes at you fast.

Wow: I just reread Clark's "no future" essay and bristled at every line, every word, of it. Precisely my reaction the first time I read it. It's unclear if one should read all of his work post "Idea" through its prism, or if it is a distillation of TJC at his "worst"? Have to figure this out.
