We are recruiting a PDF to study how mitochondrial DNA mutations influence phenotype, metabolism, fertility, and ageing using mitochondrial base editing and Drosophila.
This is part of an international collaboration led by Neil Gemmell (University of Otago, NZ) with partners including Damian Dowling (Monash University,
AU), Alex Whitworth, and Michal Minczuk (University of Cambridge, UK).
📍 Based at the University of Otago, with collaboration and research visits in the UK and Australia.
💰 PDF Salary: ~NZ$92.35k/year fixed term for 2.5 years
📅 Deadline: 30 June 2026

Day 24 of Behemoth advent calendar #beermas. It has been a slog, but we got here. For Christmas eve we have ‘Top of the Tree’ hazy pale ale. Apparently the can be used as a Christmas decoration… I am unconvinced, but the beer is fine. Merry Christmas!

Day 11 of the Behemoth advent calendar #beermas. Late to this because I have a nasty cold. Maybe this grapefruit-infused creation will help, but I will wait until I am off the cold meds because grapefruit juice inhibits CYP3A4 which is important for metabolizing many drug products. Cheers Neil
