Welp, the grind continues! I hit a 330-pound dead pin press today.

Rad. This is also a personal reminder that I need to plow through Volumes 29 - 39 after my long hiatus.

Gym Song of the Day: "Crunk in the Club" by Adi T. The vibe is essentially gangsta rap bars in the club, only the club is a progressive house joint in Stuttgart, Germany, and you're probably going home with a vampire who's been eyeing you all night: www.youtube.com/watch?v=76Fx...

Each time I watch this clip, it feels more and more like a Tim and Eric sketch.

I've said it before, but this conversation begins and ends with one movie: Event Horizon. Campy by today's standards, I saw it in theaters completely on a whim. It messed me up. I played JRPGs to get me out of my funk, including Breath of Fire 2, FF6, and Earthbound. MST3K also helped.

It's October 1st. Time to watch scary movies and play spooky games in my backlog. Up first is Sam Neill's In the Mouth of Madness. That was some great '90s b-horror. It was David Lynch meets Lovecraft in all of its hokey glory as each character realizes they aren't real. Plus, the theme song is fun.

That's awesome. 😄 Also, now that you've said it, you could pull off Chie!

Naw to Futaba. Elly is legit one of my favorite characters. She also has a theme song that rocks to this day: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9Wc...

Before the Spooky Season begins, and I cycle through my scary games and movies backlog, I'm ranking every Unicorn Overlord "romance" based on narrative coherence and how much it entertains me. I'm getting there, but, damn, there are a lot of options.

...Who is in cahoots with the villain goddess Myria from Breath of Fire III?

OMG. I rented the game for a few months, and the cartridge's battery fried, so I couldn't save. I somehow won the Chess match on my first try. I have no idea how. The next time, it took me the entire day; I made it from the start of the game to the Nazca battle, and my parents made me go to bed.

Saw Spidey with my folks. I don't normally do stuff like this, but since my parents took me to the theaters to watch Optimus die when I was in kindergarten, I'll make an exception to buy the Transformers popcorn bucket (to be fair, I always aligned with the Dinobots).

Of course I love Star Wars and every presentation, but this remains hilarious.

I second this. I rented SFII on a whim in elem school. I was so bad at first (I didn't know you could buy new gear during my first playthrough), but it changed me as a gamer. It also took me 4 years to acquire a physical copy. It's a quasi-tradition of mine to play it around Christmas if I can.

I've successfully digitized 16 of these mixtapes so far. It's funny, but I try to discern my mindset when I made each. Some moods are obvious, but on other occasions, I just wanted to have fun. Anywho, any interest in me posting the full sets down the road? In the meantime, here are fun highlights:

I'd sit in front of the radio at nights during junior high, hoping they'd play it so that I could tape it.

I encountered one that made me say, "Hey, who crossfaded Persona 2 into Barry White? Oh. Right. That was me..."

010

Mark Kretzschmar @professthor.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Same. Admittedly, I wonder how many of them are doing these days. Regarding the mixes, isn't it funny to look back on those memories and say, "Okay, um, I think I remember the vibe I was going for when I made this"? lol. I'm encountering a bit of that during this process.

One of my favorite hobbies in high school and my early undergrad years before I transitioned to MP3 players was burning mixes that combined virtually every genre from my CDs along with sketches from The Simpsons, Space Ghost, and other shows. I'm finally digitizing them 20+ years later.

About a month ago, I decided that I wanted a personal trainer to get my bench press numbers up. It seems like this was a great idea, because today I hit a 315-pound board bench press. Onward and upward.

I also returned from my annual trip to Japan with a modest game haul. During this trip, I'm proud of Power Pros, the last two scenarios of Shining Force III, Princess Crown, and the two Genso Suikoden visual novels.

Well, I've been away for about 9 months. Played some good games, read some good books, got some good gains, blah, blah, blah. Anywho, what's up, Bluesky? Did I miss anything?

I'll finish it because I have to since I started it, but they retconned the first episode of this season literally within the opening sequence. I have trouble with nostalgia shows from the jump, though, so I'm not the best source.

I want to say that I've seen Cyborg, but if I did, it was years ago. Now I'm asking myself, "Wait. Am I confusing it with Universal Soldier?"

Vol. 28 (25th Ann.) in the books. Get this one if you don't have it because even the weaker movies and/or episodes are fun. Rankings: Mitchell: Terrible movie, but a top-tier episode. Essential. Day Earth Froze: Technically the best movie. Leech Woman Brain that Wouldn't Die Gorgo Moon Zero Two
