I got tenure. An important moment on this journey was meeting Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm by chance in Bristol. I wasn't a professor yet. Jacken gave me advice and encouragement I'll never forget. Watching a Latino brother from LA's Pico-Unión rock a British crowd inspired me to pursue this career.

Really excited this paper is finally published! Can’t help but to think about the recent vote from US Colombians in the 2026 Colombian presidential election with De La Espriella receiving 72% and Cepeda 15% of support among US Colombians. 🇨🇴

Published! In this paper, we evaluate how criminal violence in Latin America affects political attitudes among Latinos in the United States. @angelaxocampo.bsky.social and I bring together research from different fields to show the relevance of origin-country politics in Latino public opinion.

My colleague Cova Meseguer (ICADE) and I really like this paper published a little over a year ago in Global Networks. Cova thinks we were ahead of our time 💡— the paper examines #deportations to #LatinAmerica and #publicopinion toward the U.S. Read here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

Out today in @poppublicsphere.bsky.social Emigration from closed autocracies is often thought to serve as a safety valve and improve stability. I show that it can also backfire and create more demand for emigration, thus raising popular pressure on the regime. doi.org/10.1017/S153...
