been tweaking my setup slightly over time, but I think my airflow like perfect. entire benchmark runs while under or at 70 degrees is very nice. Got a thermal protect cable too because if this card melts then that's just RIP to me as well.

It was right before the PC build apocalypse. ram was already crazy but 5090 prices hadn't gone up yet. Right after MFF it seemed like stores were just offloading their entire stock before Jan. So I caved and got one. It was then or never since now they're like double the price and over 4k+ 💀

Here's a ton of detail shots within SL showing the mats in a few different ways. Some shots are just the normal and roughness map, some lower roughness making for good rim lighting. Then a look at the emissive and occlusion to bake in some lighting.

Rendered out some fancy shots, I can say I'm finally done with these materials. Not perfect by any means but I feel like I've finished what I set out to do with these body mats. Just gotta wrap up the add on bits and have a fully set up avi.

All the body mat stuff being tedious lately, took a day to experiment with some pbr eye textures. These are still a wip because I want to adjust the balance of a few things. Feeling pretty confident in making pbr textures, just time consuming until I don't need to experiment as much.

One very quick point of advice I can say is you'll need multiple detailed normal maps for PBR to look it's best.

I think one upside to taking absurdly long to progress my personal project of making pbr body textures has been learning stuff at kind of a natural pace. Like not being overloaded all at once. Each time I learn something new it helps complete a loop with all the work I've already done as well.

yeah honestly it's hard to tell what's new battle damage on it. It's always been in a drawer or in a dvd shelf so the fact it started rusting asap must be due to whatever mix of metals used in the production of these. if someone has a pristine steelbook after 20 years that'd be super rare I think.

Feel like these steelbooks started to rust seconds after getting it. If I'm remembering right even sliding the plastic sleeve on and off would scratch it. The actual discs and booklet are in good condition though! Also by comparison the destiny 1 steelbook avoided rusting somehow.

Since I already have some old pics I've taken to show the scale of 180mm fans I'll add 'em here. first pic is a 120, then a 140, and then the 180. The few cases that use 180s seems to get great temps/crazy airflow but other than the prisma AL-18 I think the only other option is the HAVN H18.

the few extra inches does make a huge difference though. Makes the motherboard look like it's a mile away from the front case fans if you aren't using a big radiator or a big ass gpu.

might be the 180 fans making the case look a smaller than it is since this is the XL version of the meshify 3. It's a full tower so from the front of the case to the back it's about 22 inches long. Where as my torrent compact case is 17 inches front to back.

also I should probably add I waited a Long while before getting the meshify 3. During november it got a HUGE discount so I couldn't resist. think price wise it was close to what the 3-pack of fans and the adjust pro hub cost. Which those will be put to use still in my other case 😤

Going to be interesting using the Meshify 3 as a Torrent 2.0 case. Too bad fractal doesn't have a 180mm of their new set of fans. Though either way I probably don't need yet another set of case fans just to have white versions.

I saw that too but yeah the shipping is insane. Prisma fans were limited when I grabbed a few 140s and a 120 for the torrent case I got late last year. Was hoping maybe I could get 2 180's and a 140 but with the white frame because while setting up a meshify 3 case I saw it fits 180s in the front 👀

Another wip. Context wise I have lots of materials where I need to put them all together in a way that adds to the overall look. Most work now is adjustments. Shots are just the fur aspect I did, the markings and such. The diffuse and the materials, fourth pic is no diffuse to see just the mats.

I feel like I've endlessly been messing with either regular normals and specular maps, and now pbr just over and over trying to get things to look perfect. I gotta say though at the very least doing regular skin is so killer compared to fur. Like the style for skin I feel like I understand very well
