Getting a library card is punk as fuck and free!

Or the “let’s leave politics out of reading” discourse 🙃 it’s so tiring lol

Yes! You have to be quite intentional about curating your fyp. They really are telling on themselves huh lol

Exactly! There are so many creators on BookTok that champion libraries, indie authors, Libby etc. you need to be intentional about what type of content you’re engaging with and who you follow

I just started reading Ten Incarnations of Rebellion by Vaishnavi Patel and have been enjoying it so far! It’s set in an alternate timeline where India did not gain independence from the British in 1947. The pub date is on June 3rd, 2025 📚 #diversebooks #booksky #historicalfiction

Right?! They were so many people on BookTok holding authors, readers & publishers accountable

lumping all of BookTok together does a great disservice to the marginalized creators who have always been talking about diverse books. These conversations about BookTok never question why the platform heavily favors certain type of content and hardly encourages people to follow marginalized creators

all the #BookTok slander I’ve been seeing the past few days by other bookish communities is quite frustrating ngl. While yes, the most popular side of BookTok definitely has its issues, the side I was on always recommended diverse books and championed marginalized authors. #diversebooks

that’s a lovely goal! I tried writing a 1000 words everyday and it was such a good exercise. Will try to continue with it. Good luck to you too! :)

In honor of #booktok, what is a book you found because of BookTok that ended up being a 5 ⭐️ read? Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H. It’s a beautifully written and poignant memoir about the authors’ experiences as a queer, hijabi immigrant. Highly recommend this to everyone! #booksky #diversebooks

It will be easy to fall into a pattern of dunking & reacting in these times. Performing disapproval can be a consuming pastime & it is not enough. Refuse to abandon vulnerable people. Build a rebellious culture of care. If you need help, @prisonculture.bsky.social and I wrote a book to assist you.
