However, I think Barkeep really is a bit more of what Nova calls Category 2–it just doesn’t come up often because fights aren’t really assumed as much. But it’s definitely there, it just is pretty unobtrusive and doesn’t call attention to itself.

Very cool post! One thing I will mention is that cover is actually way more powerful in Boot Hill! So powerful it doesn’t make it in the chart (see snip from my blogpost). Basically obscured is firing from behind a bush or in shadows or smoke, etc. But I still think what you did makes sense!

Just like in the original game, if the wounds table indicates a body part that is behind hard cover (e.g., a wall), there is no hit. Hiding behind cover is very powerful in Boot Hill.

Adjust Stats: +2 Wisdom, +1 Constitution
Start with: Pitch Black Mitre, Faux Leather (1 Slot), Mace (1 Slot), Heavy Crossbow (2 Slots), Anti-Popemobile (Vehicle, Armored Monowheel), Used Holy Book (1 Slot)
Starting Ability: EX CATHEDRA. When you sit in a chair and make a pronouncement, you may spend 1d6 Wisdom to cause all who hear it to believe you are telling the truth. In addition, when you find a Chem, it can be a holy wafer instead of your result.
