To celebrate the Chesapeake Bay for Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week, we wrote this wonderful and educational poem for you. We hope you enjoy this masterpiece. #ChesapeakeBay #Poetry #Humor
A poem is overlaid on a photo of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and sunset.

An Ode to the Chesapeake Bay

There is so much to say about the Chesapeake Bay,
too much to fit into a poem.

An average of twenty-one feet deep with five hundred million pounds of seafood to reap,
it’s the country’s largest estuary.

It’s home to shellfish and crabs so delicious that we have to blab,
a seasoning is even named after it.

The Bridge connects east and west shore, the drive is never a bore,
sixty-one thousand vehicles cross it daily.

The Bay spans six states with views to increase your heart rate,
it inspires the eighteen million people that live there.

I know The Bay cares for me, so I would like to see,
us care so the next generation can have it.
