Public health laboratories can identify a pathogen from a clinical sample in hours. During an outbreak, that speed is the difference between a contained cluster and a community-wide spread. The lab result you never hear about is often the one that stopped something much worse!

1. Looks like 2026 will be a big year for #measles in the US. The #CDC reports there have already been 416 confirmed cases in 14 jurisdictions; only 3 of those have been imported. 94% of the cases this year were either unvaccinated or with unknown vax status. This is up 245 cases in a week.
