I’m currently offering tinctures of California poppy, echinacea, ginger, lemon balm, skullcap, and St. John’s wort. Coming soon: passionflower, nettles, wood betony, and New England aster. All tinctures are made with fresh (undried) herbs which are wildcrafted or organically grown.

I’m branching out… by returning to my roots. Tinctures were a part of my repertoire for decades before CBD! I graduated from herb school in 1992, and have been making tinctures ever since. With the hemp ban looming on the horizon (63 days away now), I figured it was time to diversify!

The ban affects much more than intoxicating THC products. It criminalizes most non-intoxicating CBD products as well.

The article is talking about legislation which bans full spectrum CBD products (and other hemp products), which contain trace amounts of THC.
010
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
We are. Under the new legislation, all full spectrum CBD products will become federally illegal Schedule 1 drugs, even though they are not intoxicating.

Headlines often frame this as a THC ban or a ban on intoxicating hemp products. Many don’t realize the ban also criminalizes most non-intoxicating CBD products as well. www.pbs.org/newshour/eco...

A $28 billion hemp THC industry is fighting to save itself from a looming federal ban
America’s multibillion-dollar market for impairing hemp products faces potential elimination after Congress voted to close a loophole in federal law that has allowed it to flourish.

It’s not practical and would be WAY more expensive to make CBD products using high-THC cannabis (AKA marijuana). Most cultivars contain very little CBD.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
States with legalized cannabis will be affected too. Full spectrum CBD products will vanish from store shelves. Dispensaries don’t usually carry many CBD products. People who rely on these to manage health conditions will be forced go back on meds w/ much more significant risks and side effects.

The ban was pushed back to December 12th, so you have a little more time.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Why do you want to make it harder for people to get non-intoxicating full spectrum CBD products? These are not widely available in dispensaries, and now Californians can’t get them online. Many are now struggling to find products they need to manage health conditions like epilepsy and chronic pain.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Many dispensaries don’t carry a good selection of CBD products (though I expect the market would adjust). And several states still don’t have legal cannabis, so there are no dispensaries to shop at.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
Yes, there is lots of garbage on the market. That doesn’t mean we should ban the good stuff.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
I’m all for regulating the sketchy intoxicating products, but the ban is much too broad and bans many CBD products people rely on to manage chronic health conditions.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 03/09/2026
“Toxic hemp”? What about non-intoxicating, naturally produced CBD products? What’s so toxic about a CBD salve for arthritis? Most of these will be Schedule 1 drugs when the ban kicks in.

What about non-intoxicating full spectrum CBD products like CBD salves for arthritis? These will also be criminalized under the hemp ban and will be more illegal than cocaine. The ban is very broad and covers a lot more than sketchy intoxicating products.

“Fake weed” and full spectrum CBD are completely different. I believe we need regulation of hemp products, but it shouldn’t include an outright ban of non-intoxicating full spectrum CBD products.
000
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I can’t read the article (paywall), but millions of Americans rely on non-intoxicating full spectrum CBD to manage health conditions. Not everyone is chasing a high.

Most people don’t want pesticides in their CBD products. Also, many farmers want to avoid pesticide use so they don’t harm wildlife or the environment.

How many milligrams of THC did you take? If your gummy was 20:1, the dose of THC may have been too low to have an obvious effect. Generally, CBD will not have an immediately noticeable effect. For anxiety, it will often have a moderating effect when taken daily, but a single dose will not do much.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
No, the ban has not been delayed by a month. The Senate voted for the 1-month delay, but it still needs to be approved by the House and signed by the president.

Why a new federal definition of hemp has a Vermont industry holding its breath - VTDigger
“The clock is running out,” said one CBD vendor. “It's so hard to plan and make any kind of business decisions with all this uncertainty.”

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 08/08/2026
Hemp is not the male plant. In the US, hemp is currently defined as cannabis containing less than 0.3% delta-9 THC (this definition is set to change in November). CBD products are generally made with the flowers of the female plant.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Would you be willing to share your chart? I’ve spent hours trying to read state and federal statutes. It’s mind-numbing. What I’d really like to know: which states can I not ship full spectrum CBD to? I believe only Alabama and California explicitly forbid shipping into the state.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Gotcha. I’m not familiar with Canada’s hemp laws.

Yes.

Here’s a couple of examples: 15mg of D9 per gummy and 50mg of D8 per gummy.
000
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
There are tons of very intoxicating hemp products available - not in all states though.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Plenty of people smoke hemp, but not to get high. Except for THCa flower, which is technically legal through a loophole (but not for long).
010
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
The new law criminalizes any hemp product containing more than 0.4mg of total THC per container (not per serving).
121
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Nope! The federal law only address D9-THC.
120
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
There are currently no legal limits for delta-8. The 0.3% cutoff is just for delta-9.
200
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Maybe the definition of hemp is different in the UK. In the US, hemp is currently defined as cannabis sativa with less than 0.3% delta-9 THC. That definition is set to change in November, though. The hemp I use in my products is not grown close together.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
All hemp contains trace amount of THC, and hemp can be processed in a lab to produce intoxicating products.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 04/08/2026
Hemp IS cannabis; the latin name for hemp is cannabis sativa. All hemp is cannabis, but not all cannabis is hemp. All hemp contains THC (except for a GMO version developed a few years ago which has never been grown commercially, AFAIK).

Damn, that sucks. When I started my CBD business in 2019, I tried to open a business account at the local bank we had used for decades. When I told them it was a CBD business, they said “nope”. Luckily the credit unions here in Vermont are hemp-friendly (so far).

Lots of misinformation here! 1. All hemp contains small amounts of THC. 2. Hemp will not kill you if you smoke it. 3. CBD products made with hemp are made with the female plant, not the male plant. All cannabinoids are concentrated in the flowers of the female plant.

Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 15/07/2026
Hemp-derived products containing less than 0.3% THC are federally legal (until this November). If a gummy is heavy enough, it can contain an intoxicating amount of delta-9 THC. Or, it could contain delta-8 THC, which is chemically converted from CBD isolate. It’s almost as intoxicating as D9.
021
Primal Botanical @primalbotanical.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
That gummy definitely had more than CBD in it. It’s shocking how often people are sold something they are led to believe contains just CBD, but has intoxicating cannabinoids also.

It’s not just synthetics that will be banned under the new legislation. It’s any product containing more than 0.4mg of total THC per container (not per serving). This includes all non-intoxicating full spectrum CBD products, even topicals.
