Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Under PREVAIL the chairperson of the constituency committee has an important role. They can speak in Parliament but not vote. They support the MP on constituency matters. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 15/09/2026With PREVAIL there is no need to vote tactically. Perfect #PR I guaranteed. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 14/09/2026The Single Transferable Vote (STV) has been around for over 100 years and yet is currently used in only two national elections - Ireland and Malta. Not exactly a vote of confidence is it! (Pun fully intended). 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 08/09/2026We need a national debate about what political representation should look like in the 21st century. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 03/09/2026PREVAIL #PR system puts Parliament first guaranteeing perfect PR whilst enhancing constituency support through local Parliamentary representative committees. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 24/08/2026The PREVAIL #PR voting system offers greater and fairer voter representation than any other system. How so? Because party representation in Parliament reflects exactly the national party vote and local representation is by its committee and chairperson as well as the MP. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 12/08/2026If you want to improve your High Street it is not sufficient to have a good MP. The decisions that will influence this are made in Parliament, not locally. That's why PREVAIL puts Parliament first. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 22/07/2026The Guardian piece today models #PR under various approaches. But much simpler to use the PREVAIL #PR voting system. A radical approach but based on FPTP, PREVAIL guarantees perfect PR from our existing single seat constituencies. It also enhances constituency representation. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 16/07/2026PREVAIL #PR : if people vote for you it will be directly reflected in seats. 001
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 11/07/2026Under thePREVAIL #PR voting system how are voters "represented"? 1. By the party in Parliament that voted for (or independent). 2. By the constituency representative committee. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 10/07/2026PREVAIL is a complete reset on voting in a democracy: Parliament comes first; constituencies come second. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Another pointless by-election. With PREVAIL #PR there are no by-elections. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 30/06/2026PREVAIL makes Parliament accountable to the people in a way that no other #PR system does. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 29/06/2026PREVAIL offers a radical approach to #PR. Voters choose the composition of Parliament and then Parliament chooses the constituency MP from the candidates standing. With PREVAIL, Parliament comes first. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 26/06/2026The Electoral Reform Society #ERS still supports the Single Transferable Vote (STV) as the appropriate #PR system for Westminster. But STV has been around for more than a century and is currently used for only two national Parliaments - Ireland and Malta. It is clunky and outdated. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 25/06/2026The PREVAIL #PR voting system will encourage people to turn out and vote because they know their vote will count directly in Parliament. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 24/06/2026Most #PR voting systems fail a simple test: that the result should not depend on constituency boundaries. PREVAIL passes this test and guarantees perfect PR from single seat constituencies. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 15/06/2026The recent Make Votes Matter report on #PR perpetuates overly constituency-based representation at the expense of Westminster . It is time to put Parliament first with guaranteed perfect PR. PREVAIL is the only systems that does this. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 10/06/2026The new Make Votes Matter report lists and compares types of #PR voting systems which are clumsy and opaque and do not guarantee an effective PR outcome. STV is used by only two national Parliaments PREVAIL is an innovative PR system guaranteeing perfect PR from our single seat constituencies. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 09/06/2026What does polling day in the UK look like under PREVAIL? Voters vote in the normal way from the usual candidate list. The candidate with the most votes is declared chairperson of the representative committee. Later Parliament declares the MP for each seat. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 04/06/2026Imagine voting knowing your vote would directly count towards the number of seats your party had in Parliament: 20% of votes = 20% of seats. And imagine that if you didn't vote for the MP in your constituency you would have a party representative whom you could consult for help. This is PREVAIL. 010
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 01/06/2026The PREVAIL PR voting system will guarantee perfect proportional representation. Voters will vote directly to determine their party's number of seats in Parliament. The constituency representation committee, chaired by the candidate with the highest number of votes, will manage the constituency. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 29/05/2026A vote in the General Election should be for a party in Parliament. Constituency-centred voting, such as with FPTP and STV, is outdated and a major reason we don't get complete proportionality. PREVAIL puts Parliament first. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 24/05/2026The new voting system in Wales delivered a more proportional result than First Past the Post. But it still falls short of true proportionality. And multi-seat constituencies had to be formed. PREVAIL would have yielded perfect proportionality from single seat constituencies. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 24/05/2026RE the recent Scottish Parliament elections. It is not necessary to have a two-tier voting system to try and create proportionality (which, anyway, is very hit and miss). PREVAIL will achieve perfect proportionality from voters voting once in our existing single seat constituencies. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 22/05/2026With the PREVAIL voting system a voter is represented in Parliament by the party (or independent) they voted for. They are represented in their constituency by their party (or independent) representative. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 21/05/2026The PREVAIL voting system will bring fairness, stability and a sense of engagement to our national politics. 010
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 19/05/2026With the PREVAIL PR voting system no voter is ignored. Every vote across the country counts towards seats in Parliament. And perfect PR is guaranteed. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 15/05/2026The most frequent comment about PREVAIL is that it cannot be fair that a candidate could be elected on a small % of the vote. But in Parliament an MP serves their party first and votes as directed by the whips. Other activities on behalf of constituents are not really a party-political activity. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 08/05/2026With PREVAIL more votes count than with any other voting system and perfect proportionality is guaranteed. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 06/05/2026The PREVAIL voting system can be used for local elections as well as Westminster and would guarantee perfect proportional representation. No need for tactical voting. 010
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 22/04/2026A distinctive feature of PREVAIL is the constituency representative committee with members from all elected parties and others. I thought the chair would be the MP but now I think it should be the representative with the highest vote in the constituency. I think this would better appeal to voters 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 06/04/2026The popular vote is the gold standard in democracy. The PREVAIL system is the only one to fully acknowledge and implement this. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 03/04/2026PREVAIL changes the notion of constituency representation. Instead of the one elected MP (or several for multi-seats) each elected party has a paid parliamentary representative sitting on a local committee chaired by the MP. This increases the connection between the constituency and Parliament. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 20/03/2026The PREVAIL voting system with its guarantee of perfect proportionality will bring permanent stability to our Westminster politics. Constituencies will also be better represented with a panel, chaired by the MP, and consisting of paid representatives from each nationally elected party. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 12/03/2026Electoral voting should not be so overly constituency-based. Boundaries are arbitrary and could be redrawn to achieve almost any result you wanted. Voting should be focussed on Parliament not the constituency MP. PREVAIL is the only PR voting system to put this philosophy into practice. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 27/02/2026So the Green Party now has five seats in Parliament. Still a long way short of the 45 they would have won had PREVAIL been the voting system used at the last election. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 26/02/2026By-elections are a nonsense. A party that wins a seat at the General Election should retain it for the whole of the Parliament. This is what happens under PREVAIL. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 23/02/2026It is beyond ridiculous that there will be massive tactical voting to try to control what happens in the next General Election. The PREVAIL voting system will end this nonsense once and for all and guarantee proportionality. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 07/02/2026PREVAIL is the best PR system for the UK as it: - maintains existing single seat constituencies - puts Parliament first - guarantees perfect PR - eliminates tactical voting 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 31/01/2026Under the PREVAIL voting system, if an independent candidate tops the poll then they are automatically elected. What about the other voters who voted for a party? Their votes still count towards their party's total vote at Westminster and therefore to the number of seats it will be allocated. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 30/01/2026With the PREVAIL voting system, an over quota party will keep its best seats, up to its quota, and its remaining seats will be transferred to under quota parties to bring them up to quota. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Under PREVAIL a party's quota of Westminster seats is the number that accords with its % of the popular vote. An under quota party is one that came first in fewer seats than its quota, eg the Greens Such a party will be allocated additional seats to bring it up to quota. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 28/01/2026With the PREVAIL voting system, if you vote for a party you are directly influencing how many seats that party will gain in Parliament, regardless of what happens in your constituency. Furthermore, the number of seats your party gets will be in exact proportion to its national share of the vote. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 19/01/2026MPs defecting removes seats from parties that won them at the last election. Another shortcoming of FPTP. Under PREVAIL, seats are won by parties not individual MPs. This is as it should be - the constituency should not wag the Parliamentary dog! 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 01/01/2026Time to move away from outdated voting methods (inc STV) where constituencies have too much sway. PREVAIL is Parliamentary based. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 10/12/2025Existing PR voting systems (including STV) are outdated. They are overly concerned with local constituency representation. PREVAIL puts Parliament first. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 04/12/2025PREVAIL is an innovative electoral voting system: - puts Parliament before constituencies - very few wasted votes - guarantees perfect PR A different approach to Parliamentary democracy 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 24/11/2025PREVAIL is a completely different approach to political representation. Parliament is put first before constituencies. Perfect PR is guaranteed from single seat constituencies. 000
Ray J. Hickey @prevailvoting.bsky.social · 04/11/2025Percentage wasted votes at the UK General Election of 2024: FPTP : 73.7% PREVAIL: 3.3% Under PREVAIL the only wasted votes are those for a party that did not win a single seat or an independent candidate that did not win. 000
