What on Earth is a Forward Deployed Engineer? I've been in this industry for as long as many of you have been on this planet, but never heard of it.

Another perfectly functioning MacBook saved from going to the thrash bin. The 5th or 6th one I save. This time, it’s a 2010 15” MBP with 8GB of RAM and almost half a gig of SSD (what a luck). Add Linux Mint on top, and it’s ready to end up with someone in need of a laptop. #apple #linux

Google's Gemini AI escaped the sandbox and hacked three companies. Mass media hysteria 😱 Meanwhile, the actual "hacks." 🤦🤦‍♀️🤦🏼‍♂️ Humans are simultaneously the most intelligent, and the dumbest creatures in the Universe.

Five years ago, I wrote a book on using Go for algorithmic generative art to show its versatility beyond servers and CLIs. I’m just as excited to this day. Here is an animated simulation of the Three-Body-Problem. #golang

Negative parallelism ("It's not just that ... it's the other thing") is such a PITA in AI text that I am sick of it. I've set up a series of deterministic linter rules to flag texts with those and more, using a tool called Vale: vale.sh - you don't […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

They call programmers these days "the condom between Claude Code and production." But so has been public administration. For decades.

The perverse reality of the world we live in. The same person who wouldn't want to pay 400-500 EUR for an iPad Mini would gladly spend 10x the amount on a Duo.

I figured, since I effectively play the role of an engineering manager to machines now, I might as well ask them to play Estimation Poker and give me their guesstimates at the start of each task 😁

If you are outraged at #Anthropic for exposing your texts as written by AI, how about this: just write them yourselves. Or, what's even better, don't write anything at all. You don't have to feel the pressure to always say something, even when you have nothing to share.

In case I haven’t mentioned it until now, I spend disproportionate amount of money on single-purpose devices. It’s one of my guilty pleasures. Not all are great, but it’s refreshing to see something on the market that doesn’t intend to suck your attention non-stop.

Those who claim that the reMarkable Paper Pro Move is a terrible device, have obviously never held one in their hands. It’s a great ebook reader, on top of an already fantastic note-taking tablet. Read my lips: if you are planning to get the SuperNote instead, you should reconsider.

When people ask me about why I’m so chill about current world affairs, politics, AI, etc., I like to use a chart like this one. Yes, things may seem bad now, but they’ve been way worse before. They’ve been better too, but so will they be again, given enough time. Nothing is permanent.

A black-and-white cartoon shows an older woman playing a slot machine and a tired-looking younger man sitting beside her staring at his smartphone. They sit back-to-back on simple chairs, each absorbed in their device. The caption below reads, “THEY ARE BOTH LOOKING FOR THE SAME THING,” implying both are seeking the same kind of dopamine reward or distraction.
