listen it's a chemical imbalance in your brain. not a socially constructed category. it is inherent in your very being. it is who you are.
Shift work sleep disorder (SWSD) is a circadian rhythm sleep disorder characterized by insomnia, excessive sleepiness, or both affecting people whose work hours overlap with the typical sleep period. Insomnia can be the difficulty to fall asleep or waking up before the individual has slept enough.[1] About 20% of the working population participates in shift work. SWSD commonly goes undiagnosed, and it is estimated that 10–40% of shift workers have SWSD.[2][3] The excessive sleepiness appears when the individual has to be productive, awake and alert.[1] Both symptoms are predominant in SWSD.[4] There are numerous shift work schedules, and they may be permanent, intermittent, or rotating; consequently, the manifestations of SWSD are quite variable. Most people with different schedules than the ordinary one (from 8 AM to 6 PM) might have these symptoms but the difference is that SWSD is continual, long-term, and starts to interfere with the individual's life.[1]

SO SLIGHT

It was as near invisible
As night in early dusk.
So slight it was,
It was as unbelievable
As day in early dawn.

The summer impulse of a leaf
To flutter separately
Gets death and autumn.
Such faint rebellion
Was lately love in me.

So slight, it had no hope or sorrow,
It could but choose
A passing flurry for its nuptial,
Drift off and fall
Like thistledown without a bruise.

Take hands.
There is no love now.
But there are hands.
There is no joining now,
But a joining has been
Of the fastening of fingers
And their opening.
More than the clasp even, the kiss
Speaks loneliness,
How we dwell apart,
And how love triumphs in this.

When first we faced, and touching showed
How well we knew the early moves,
Behind the moonlight and the frost,
The excitement and the gratitude,
There stood how much our meeting owed
To other meetings, other loves.

The decades of a different life
That opened past your inch-close eyes
Belonged to others, lavished, lost;
Nor could I hold you hard enough
To call my years of hunger-strife
Back for your mouth to colonise.

Admitted: and the pain is real.
But when did love not try to change
The world back to itself–no cost,
No past, no people else at all–
Only what meeting made us feel,
So new, and gentle-sharp, and strange?

He says of himself: "The worst enemy that you can meet will always be yourself; it is for yourself that you lie in wait in caverns and forests. ... You will be a heretic to yourself, and a wizard, and a diviner, and a fool, and a doubter, and a reporbate, and a scoundrel. You must be ready to be burned in your own flame; how could you be renewed, if you have not first been reduced to ashes!"¹

just going off wikipedia it seems like shakespeare was known (dryden became the first poet laureate of england in the 1660s) but not so universally hyped up as he would be later
Between the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660 and the end of the 17th century, classical ideas were in vogue. As a result, critics of the time mostly rated Shakespeare below John Fletcher and Ben Jonson.[246] Thomas Rymer, for example, condemned Shakespeare for mixing the comic with the tragic. Nevertheless, the poet and critic John Dryden rated Shakespeare highly, saying of Jonson, "I admire him, but I love Shakespeare".[247] He also famously remarked that Shakespeare "was naturally learned; he needed not the spectacles of books to read nature; he looked inwards, and found her there."[248] For several decades, Rymer's view held sway but during the 18th century, critics

dont mix these drugs! you might have longer, more satisfying, more adventurous sex! [ACTUALLY DO NOT TAKE THEM TOGETHER IT CAN KILL YOU]

Besides that, the combination of sildenafil and poppers (or any drug that lowers inhibitions) can potentially increase the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease due to risky sexual behaviour, such as:

Consumers can sustain more and longer sexual encounters

Decreased inhibitions may potentially lead to risky sexual practices

THE MORALITY OF POETRY

To Gerald Enscoe

I stood above the sown and generous sea
Late in the day, to muse about your words:
Your human images come to pray for hands
To wipe their vision clear, your human voice
Flinging the poem forward into sound.
Below me, roaring elegies to birds,
Intricate, gray, the waters crawled the sands,
Heaving and groaning, casting up a tree,
A shell, a can to clamber over the ground:
Slow celebration, cluttering ripple on wave.

The waters of that sound blew gray and white
And meaningless to me who had a mind;
And so to you, who had a word to say.
I wondered when the complicated sea
Would tear and tangle in itself and die,
Sheer outrage hammering itself to death
Or loud delight deafening its own delight.
And so I might ha e mourned the empty sky
Where gluttonous scavengers barked in the rain—
A hundred gulls descending to the froth,
Their bodies clumped together, lost to me.

Counting those images, I meant to say
A hundred gulls decline to nothingness;
But, high in cloud, a single naked gull
Shadows a depth in heavens for the eye.

MOOCHKAP

The spirit sweats—the horizon's
tobacco-tinged—like a thought.
Windmills image a fishing village:
boats and weathered nets.

The village of torpid mindwills
hovers like a motionless harbor.
All smells of weary stasis,
uneasiness, and grief.

The hours skip past like stones,
ricochet across the shallows,
not drowning, keeping afloat,
tobacco-tinged—like thought.

There's time before the train
but it's drowned by apathy,
sunk in limbo, the roliling
turbulence before a storm.

solid enough review but this part's a laugh
Again, a trend we see happening today. Capital will create an environmentally sound situation, & we see how big business today as well as political parties in the elections have jumped on that band-wagon. In fact the adaptability of capital now is even making a business out of creating non-pollutant wrappers/products etc. Not on a satisfactory scale, for sure, but the seeds do seem to have been sown.

CURE OF IGNORANCE
The dogs still bark,
And something is not clear.
From ignorance dogs barked always.

How to enlighten them?
There are no dogs now—
They do but bark.

What is not clear is what is clear.
Dogs have the scent,
Yet nothing runs like prey.

Shall we seem to disappear
Until the dogs stop barking?
There is no other way to explain.

What good now his clear-sightedness, when all his accounts with life were ended? What advantage to him in the fact that something began "to shine" at the bottom of the pit into which wlhe had fallen, in the fact that "he suddenly recognized the true direction"? What answer is there to this question? — "To protect them [those around him] and himself from suffering!" And is that all? The last words of Ivan Ilyitch, when he heard someone say "It is ended," were, "Death is ended. It no longer exists."What does this mean? "That there was no longer any death. Instead of death there was light." How does Tolstoy explain in his inward soul this terrible tragedy of an innocent man? His answer is the preachment, "Love your neighbor and work." But no one asks this of him. He himself does not ask it of himself. After we have read "Ivan Ilyitch" we are not at all interested in knowing how to save ourselves from his terrible fate. On the contrary, with Belinsky we demand that account be taken of every victim of history and of circumstance, and not only do we not wish to climb to the highest rung of the ladder of culture but are, on the contrary, ready to throw ourselves down head first if no answer is given us with regard to Ivan Ilyitch.

washington state & federal agencies have issued permits for the construction of a so-called green energy site on sacred yakama land, home to endemic plants & an important migratory passage, in the interest of building data centers for slop ictnews.org/uncategorize...
This was despite a state review finding that it would have “significant and unavoidable adverse impacts” on Yakama historic sites and culturally significant plants.

The 700-acre hydrostorage project is slated to be built on the contaminated grounds of an abandoned aluminum smelter formerly owned by Lockheed Martin, and, more broadly, a site that has long encroached on a sacred Yakama site called Pushpum, meaning the “Mother of all roots.”It’s home to Yakama archaeological sites and dozens of seeds, roots, flowers and shrubs harvested and protected by the tribe, some of which are endemic only to the area.

“I know we’re in a time when we need renewable energy, but why on our root grounds? Why on critical migratory corridors for hawks, for sage grouse and the deers?” asked Elaine Harvey, a watershed manager at the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission and a member of the Yakama’s Kamíłpa Band.

“And I say: For who are we building? We’re going green now for data centers,” she said.

but then there's people who self describe as leftist, not as a qualifier but as a stand-alone noun, as in when asked their politics they say 'leftist,' when asked what they believe they say 'leftism,' as if it communicated a coherent set of beliefs instead of a rough approximation of political allegiances both real & imagined, & basically they fuck it up for everybody
141
a wounded animal @prayersforpigeons.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
the problem is that 'leftism' is not a descriptor of an ideology or movement or organization or any definite & particular thing. it's a shorthand that gestures at a collection of different ideologies, movements, organizations, etc, which are often understood as being opposed to many of the same things, and to be in support of many of the same things, roughly.

The other big thing I did not imagine back in 1992 was that the U.S. could become so controversial and damaging to the prospects of democracy.

How long does it to take to fix that?
Probably a decade of rebuilding work. But it's something that can be revived because the underlying thesis—that democratic societies are necessary—remains strong.

statement from marius mason pending his release: www.abcf.net/blog/stateme...
Greetings, Friends and Family,

It feels like this will actually happen at this point — so I finally think it’s time to reach out and say thank to all of you who have been steadfastly in my corner, backing me up and helping me stay centered all of these 17 years incarcerated in the FBOP. I will be leaving prison in May and returning to my home state of Michigan, back to Detroit.

This time would not have been the same without you all — and I have met so many people who had no one to turn to while they did their time, so I know what a difference it made to always have my people holding me up. And there has been a lot to get through, what with advocating for my transition, at each step — I knew that I had legal advice, medical information and material support. Thank you so much, I owe you all more than I can ever repay.

I have tried for my own part to be a support and comfort to the people around me in each place the BOP put me, passing on the love I have been shown. What I really want you all to know is how incredibly proud it made me to be part of a community of resistance that stood together. It impressed the people I met in prison for so much love and solidarity to be expressed so powerfully for someone who was behind the walls.

It demonstrated that in our movement, though we were physically separated, we could stay together in spirit, that solidarity and love are action words, and that we are all in it for the long haul.

Change does not come easy, but solidarity is when we flex our strength as a people. I don’t really know what comes next, but I hope I can still serve my community in some way to help. I have been studying to be a writing tutor through my Yale Prison Education Initiative scholarship — and hope to volunteer at the Literacy Project in Detroit. I have earned a Paralegal Degree and studied immigration law, and hope to be of service in that capacity, also.

So much to do, but many hands make the work easy! Thank you, thank you, a million times over — thank you! As Elton John used to sing — I’m Still Standin’ (yeah, yeah, yeah).

See you on the outside!

Love and Solidarity, Marius

if only we had some historical precedent for a republican president pushing the american project even further into fascist hell & trampling the lie of Law domestically & internationally, & democrats promising legal consequences,
Obama officials acted to shield Bush torturers from all accountability. During his 2008 campaign for president, Obama repeatedly vowed that, while he opposed "partisan witch-hunts", he would instruct his attorney general to "immediately review" the evidence of criminality in these torture programs because "nobody is above the law." Yet, almost immediately after winning the 2008 election, Obama, before he was even inaugurated, made clear that he was opposed to any such investigations, citing what he called "a belief that we need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards".

On Monday, March 30, 2026, members of Muhammad’s support team noticed something alarming: their profile had vanished from the prison messaging system GettingOut. Around the same time, their name no longer appeared in Oregon’s inmate search database. This disappearance happened in the wake of a call-in campaign to once again get Muhammad out of solitary confinement.

Since then, family and supporters have been scrambling for answers, calling Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) and multiple Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) offices. They’ve gotten almost nothing in return.
