Lynda Barry did not squeeze your heart and simultaneously explain the point of all art with the barest of line drawings so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."

HOW TO LOOK AT ART by Lynda Barry

In the first panel, a dog-headed woman, a mother, looks at a painting in the "Madonna with Baby Jesus" vein. A small blobby child is standing next to her.

Mother: IM NOT SURE HOW TO LOOK AT ART.
Child: WHATS SPOSTA HAPPEN?

In the second panel the dog-headed mother holds up her hands (paws?) trying to explain to the child.

Mother: SOMETHING BIG. A REVELATION.
SUDDENLY YOU JUST UNDERSTAND.

In the third panel dog-headed mother goes back to looking at the painting. The child holds up their arms to be lifted.

Mother: NOT SURE HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
Child: HOW BOUT LIFT ME UP SO I CAN SEE BETTER

In the last panel, the dog-headed mother is holding the child, their position mirrored by the Madonna and baby Jesus in the painting.

"Will this rain stop?...cuz I don't want it to." 🌂🌂🌂 My head aches. Color commentary available at prayag.hudsons.network/blog/?id=80 !! #art #furry #anthro #cat #rain #night #krita #blog

Cat boy watches a hard storm fall outside. It's bright but harsh outside, and safe but dark inside. The title is "please keep raining...please rain rain rain......"

The flats version. Maybe think of it as the lights being turned on.

More backlog, this time of #touhou #art!! I cranked these out in my first year of college, huge artworks back-to-back. That year...was horrible 😞 Thankfully I'm in a much better place now, thanks to some awesome therapy and a gap semester. These artworks are a silver lining of that painful time.

Title: "Crimson Mansion: The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil"
On my blog @ https://prayag.hudsons.network/blog/?id=10

The bosses of each stage are all colorful transparent silhouettes, crossing over each other. In the background, Flandre's insane eyes peer through Remilia's outstretched wings. I feel like I could do better on this artwork, but...I don't feel like it 🤤

Title: "Star Lotus Ship: Undefined Fantastic Object"
On my blog @ https://prayag.hudsons.network/blog/?id=6

More crazy silhouettes!!! I think this is the biggest, most bombastic, most ambitious artwork I've made yet. A brightly-lit flying ship floats above a sea of clouds. Strongly-colored, gradient-colored, patterned silhouettes of the game's stage bosses frame the ship, while the game's playable characters fly around them, dodging indiscriminate punches from a cloud-man. All are encircled in one bit rainbow that takes the shape of a mysterious script.

Title: "Flandre Scarlet's Taboo: Cranberry Trap!!!"
On my blog @ https://prayag.hudsons.network/blog/?id=2

"Cranberry Trap" is Flandre Scarlet's first spell card. It felt hopelessly tricky until I properly learned how it works. As it turns out, it was a LOT less complicated, and MUCH more predictable, than I thought it was just from looking. My own recreation of the pattern is in the background, colored as if it was painted on a scratched red wall. There's a decorative cranberry in the background, and on top, Flandre herself points her cranberry-stained fist at the viewer while grinning in a cheeky-intimidating way.

Title: "One-Week Girl, Patchouli Knowledge"
On my blog @ https://prayag.hudsons.network/blog/?id=1

This is the artwork that I debuted my blog with! Please do check out my blog, you might be surprised by it! Patchouli Knowledge, a purple-haired witch wearing PJs, holds up a card to the sky while standing on a circle that features each of her elemental spells associated with a day of the week. The circle's shiny metallic-looking border was made in a vector program, and then imported into my drawing program.

Backlog time! Jeezus god these are from 2 years ago auauuhh...I don't do #art enough 🥲 If ya like #pokemon, I've got a bit of that! On my #blog, these artworks are at: 1️⃣ prayag.hudsons.network/blog/?id=15 2️⃣ prayag.hudsons.network/blog/?id=16 And naturally, there's plenty more where they came from 👀

Artwork title "Barklava". Get it, cuz...bark...Entei gets called a dog, and he makes lava appear, and...and baklava...get it...haha....

It's just a red-colored shiny baklava. There's a little blurb saying, "The syrup it's soaked in gets its distinctive red hue from using local berries, which also lend a sour kick that accents the sweetness and leaves a powerful impression. Inspired by an Entei sighting on Route 42." It's inspired from all my effort trying to nail down the Legendary Beasts in Pokémon Crystal.

At the bottom is a mini-3-panl of Ash Ketchum snarfing down baklava like a caveman and then choking on it, and then getting rescued from being hit by Entei. I was...feeling a bit insane when I made this 😅

Artwork title "olivine lighthouse". Amphy, the Ampharos that serves as Olivine City's lighthouse light, looks out at a bright sunset over the Eastern coastal waters. It's calm...flying Pokémon, birds and bugs alike, are all spiraling on the wind...it's the kind of peaceful feeling that makes you feel like you could float too, float on a swell of dopamine and small happy tears. I wish everyone who's overwhelmed by life to be able to feel like this someday, to someday be able to breathe easily and have future years as tranquil and beautiful as the sunsets that happen every day.

A technical feat for myself, since I used mirroring, shape, and perspective tools to create a very precisely-made setting, and also finally nailed my shading style for foliage. I really like this one cuz everybody does stuff for HGSS, the remakes, but I think HGSS stylistically is overrated. Gameplay-wise obvsly it's superior to GSC, but I don't like its Sinnoh-ified gaudy music. I wanna contribute more GSC-faithful stuff.
