This is affective in that it communicates that one has grasp over the psychological pattern and gives the impression that they might be immune to it, when in reality, it is intellectualization masking as a neurotic barrier stopping from reaching within and healing themselves.

When one is caught in an act, like say lying, one can gaslight the other party and turn it around say that they are performing the defence mechanism of projection. By pointing at the larger pattern being enacted one shows awareness of the psychological behavioural patterns.

With enough intellectual horse power and fluidity in navigating around psychological concepts, one can stupidly/maliciously parlay these skills to achieve meta-level defences and absolve oneself from getting healed. Here is an example.

Why do many of these AI-slop websites use colors in the ballpark of Cosmic Latte (#FFF8E7), which is supposed to be the average color of the universe? Think thereʼs some analogue of Conwayʼs law at work here.

I find buying into the narrative and playing a part in the AI accelerated progress to be counter to human flourishing overall, but that does not mean that something cool would not come out of this stream and it is to be aggressively thwarted / sabotaged.

While I love and admire their work into reconfiguring the basics of computing, I find their idea of sabotaging progress in things you don't agree with a bit problematic as there could be certain contexts in which AI could bring things unachievable before: www.youtube.com/watch?t=504&...

Find it based that HundredRabbits want to sabotage agents and reclaim human agency. Especially when many among us are trying to mimic the opinions around and attempting to do the easy thing of fitting in by looking at what our peers are doing.

There are certain bits I donʼt agree with in the book like the gimmicks / magic tricks that Buddha performs to impress others. In my understanding he was more of a psychologist than a miracle worker. There are also some supernatural deities which could have been done away with.

The authors show perspicacity in understanding the advantages of such craft practices despite this bias of seeing them only as instrumental. They identify two prominent concepts featuring in such practices: 1/ Untidy Data and 2/ Rich Tables.

There is a prominent view in the scientific community that such data layouts are rather primitive and transient that are to be cleaned up and made conformant to formal standards. They only see the informal data work conducted in spreadsheets as a means to other ends.

The double whammy is this loss of roots has a palliative in the form of social media spectacles of the rituals done performatively for the likes/shares/subscriptions metric. No need for the audience to touch grass and trees to get to the village to witness the events.

Prathyush @prathyvsh.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
I feel a major component of this loneliness epidemic and the ambient malaise of doom that people voice in social media stems from severance of roots to community with the tech moving us towards a global village where everyone is connected but no one has a grounded community.

I agree that GDP is a poor measure, but in my understanding, that is what almost all major nations fly by and a great clincher as underlying assumption for many (most?) business deals. But especially so with Silicon Valley startups, for them growth is canon. For example: paulgraham.com/growth.html

Startup = Growth

Prathyush @prathyvsh.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Isnʼt growth in GDP (or optimization of some numeric proxies) equated with progress in mainstream economics? Accelerating that is how technologists (who are largely aligned with this) propose to solve worldʼs ailments. Circular economy and degrowth are antithetical to this.

More oddly, I think all of this got birthed as we started tracking time and let go of the cyclical nature of time which the indigenous and South Eastern / Latin American cultures were intimate with. I think the rupture with nature came with linear conception of time.
100
Prathyush @prathyvsh.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
There is this idea I am thinking about right now that the whole Western narrative of progress is counterposed with this idea of circular economy because to progress, it needs accelerating growth and this has to be powered by unscrupulous extraction of resources.
