You can only sit around so long, then you have to make a movie. So we did. What's not as exciting? Photos of me editing... #LetsJustMakeAMovie

Next up from the SECRET LOS ANGELES book - The Triforium! This sculpture near City Hall downtown has close to 1,500 glass prisms and light bulbs and 79 bells in its tower. It would use motion sensors to translate the movements of passersby into music and a light show! Great story. #LetsJustGo

Hey, it's the 10th anniversary of LA LA LAND! Have I told you I enjoy this movie? Have I told you a thousand times? Here 1,001! I re-visited an old article from back in the day where I get the film's back in a big way. Enjoy - and enjoy that movie! (Cut to page 26) www.theburbankblabla.com/published

Susan & I have begun exploring LA with the SECRET LOS ANGELES book. As ever, I'll share what we find so if you live here or are visiting, you can check these places out yourself. First up - Warner Brothers Downtown Theatre. Go to this jewelry shop to see a over-100-yr-old theatre inside! #LetsJustGo

Have your Art Walk in October, they said. It'll be cool and pleasant, they said. 100 degree weather didn't stop us!! The Tujunga Village Art Walk had art, entertainment, a fashion show, and food. I took a picture of my food and put it here on the internet. I think I'm doing it right.

More pics from Balboa Park in San Diego, one of the best city parks in the nation! #PhotosFromWork The gardens are just the start of Balboa Park (There're SEVENTEEN MAJOR museums!) which include this Botanical Building (featured in CITIZEN KANE!). I finally visited when it's been open to go inside.

Whatever age you're supposed to stop going to Knott's Scary Farm...DON'T TELL ME WHAT IT IS. An outing is only as good as the people you experience it with. Four of the beings in the first photo are people. Mrs. Knott's Chicken restaurant remains one of the great theme park eateries in all the land!

The Horror Show is the latest exhibit to open at The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (perhaps the greatest place on Earth). HORROR has taken over the fourth floor and they wisely explore many sub-genres - gothic, psychological, science, slasher, religion, and ghosts. It's a must-see!

Thanks to Elena Fisher for having me at COMEDY CHRONICLES this week. We managed to squeeze some great comedy in at The Oaks Tavern between the Eagles game and karaoke...!

Last night was one of the best concerts at the Bowl I've ever seen. Jon Batiste is a MONSTER musician, surrounded by real professionals, burning through a variety of musical styles and even the sky was in an artful mood. Plus - a Jen Yates sighting! #LetsJustGo

Some sights from the Culver City Farmer's Market. RECOMMENDED! Live music dots and scene and there's loads of food. These dates went straight-up into a shake later in the week.

Last night was the final Jazz at LACMA event of the season with vocalist Judy Wexler. But mostly it's about the giant lawn party/picnic that stretches from Wilshire to 6th St. Until next year!

As soon as I heard that Conan O'Brien started a BAND (The Vigodas), I made a plan to see them. He was GREAT! It reminded me of Steve Martin playing with the Steep Canyon Rangers - a comedian aligning themselves with extraordinary musicians and being hilarious throughout. Go see them! #LetsJustGo

THE VISIT is playing at Pasadena Playhouse. This set has a number of clever tricks up its sleeve. The two leads (Jefferson Mays and especially Melinda Page Hamilton) are excellent although around them is some questionable direction. It's part of L.A. Theatre Week!: www.todaytix.com/los-angeles/...

INCREDIBLE show! Mike D. from the Beasties is touring with a band consisting of his sons & their friends and they SMOKED the Belasco stage last night! The Beasties have an sound/vibe that is unmatched and although all three of the Boys can't be together, this was a fantastic time in that scene again

Yesterday at Flappers was great, damn near full house! Next up, I'll be at the Comedy Chronicles w/Elena Fisher at The Oaks Tavern, Monday, Sept. 28th. Parking's easy and this is my fourth time doing this show. If you've been before, it has a later start time than it has had in the past: 8:30. Free!

I recently gave an LA tour to a bunch of students from Europe and they wanted me to continue the tour to San Diego. Twist my arm! So these pics from La Jolla are essentially #PhotosFromWork. Love the sea lions. They just yell and walk on each other's heads and are lazy AF. In other words, my heroes!

Wow, there is MUCH to say about The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art - go see it for yourself! Outrageous architecture, clever displays, and a lot of class. If George Lucas is spending a billion dollars on a 20-year project, damn straight I got an annual pass! #LetsJustFNGo #Artiseverything

Jazz at LACMA is one of my favorite community experiences in L.A. The music is a totally pro set with some of the best in the biz, the scene is busy but the vibe is picnic. Great music with Betty Bryant and good people. Two more free concerts left 9/18 and 9/25. #LetsJustGo

$20 to see Buddy Guy on his 90th birthday tour? YES, please. Not just that, but I'm now a Christone "Kingfish" Ingram BELIEVER. He and his Delta Jam opened and kicked out the JAMS. Plus, a Joe Bonamassa cameo and all the other magic of The Hollywood Bowl. A+ evening. #LetsJustGo

I'm an Angels fan but I might be a baseball fan over everything as last night at Dodger Stadium was a blast! One run game, a history-making play, a Dia De Los Muertos theme, and added value all over the place. How can you not be romantic about baseball?

The Maestro of the Movies Tribute to John Williams at The Hollywood Bowl delivered big time. The set list was full-on greatest hits this year and sat in the best seats I've ever had for the Bowl. For Spielberg himself to say Williams' music will live beyond his movies - what praise! Incredible night

Richard Gere has quietly been turning in great performances for the last 25 yrs and deserves a shout-out! He's the main reason I want to see THE AGENCY. He's gotta be doing something interesting over there. I wrote about this in the latest Burbank Bla Bla. Page 19! www.theburbankblabla.com/published

This is an old sign for Adohr Milk Farms. Why is it interesting? It has history steeped in Route 66! When Howlin’ Ray’s Hot Chicken opened up in this Pasadena building, they uncovered this 100-year-old sign from under a facade and restored it. Points for them recognizing history. #LetsJustGo

I gotta thank my wife for pointing me toward the HILF Podcast (History I'd Like to Fuck). I'm gonna deep-dive the episodes but there's one show live every month at Flappers Comedy Club where Dawn Brodey shows off her chatter skills and good guests. Excellent format and very funny! #LetsJustGo

Annual pilgrimage to Halloween Horror Nights: complete. For the first time in a long time - I did everything! I've made the mistake of going to the lower lot and working my way back up, but the tram closes early and I'd miss THE PURGE. PRO TIP: Do the upper lot first, then go lower. #LetsJustGo

Like movies? I can't recommend the Academy Museum enough. Hard to believe I lived in LA for 20 years without a museum about MOVIES, but this place changes that in a big way. For only $100/yr. there are anywhere between 8-11 free movies for museum members per month, plus frequently changing exhibits!

For years I've seen the SiriusXM logo on a building rising up just off the intersection of Santa Monica and La Brea. Yesterday, I got to go in to watch a live comedy show in the SiriusXM Garage - ARE YOU STILL LISTENING? Entertainment companies, take note - this is ADDED VALUE.

The Starlight Bowl finale in the hills of Burbank was a good one. The Fab Four triumphantly returned (not just to the venue, but from a postponed date earlier in the month due to a fire)! This really is the greatest music of all time and it was all created in, like, a decade. Amazing. #LetsJustGo

Susan sent me a ticket to a movie. So I said yes. 'Cause it's a movie. Turns out it was NoHo Cinefest (hilariously in Glendale) and Susan's friend Herbert made an indie film with a wild premise that delivered! I need to go to more film festivals. Definitely my scene. #LetsJustGo

Final pics from our Northern CA trip. Can you tell we enjoyed it? This is Auburn. I guess they have an "Auburn" in every state? And get this, the town is famous for being part of the Gold Rush! Then not much happened here until George Lynch was born in 1954. Also, PROTOCOL filmed here. #LetsJustGo

Saturday's Yächtley Crëw show at The Starlight Bowl was a full-on BLOWOUT! The "Titans of Soft Rock" threw a big ol' party and I was happy to be the host. How big is the Crëw getting? My cousin came from Arizona for the show! I hope they remain a yearly tradition in the hills of Burbank.

More pics from our NorCal trip include these in Placerville, where we ended up booking an Airbnb. No surprise, it's a gold rush town! Probably more than others 'cause "placer" is a type of gold so the town is NAMED after gold (it's also called HANGTOWN for mid-1800s vigilante justice!) #LetsJustGo

Behind this curtain is one INCREDIBLE movie - THE CLOCK, a 24-hour movie made from thousands of clips from movies and T.V. shows showing the passage of time either through on-screen clocks or dialogue synched with the time it actually is while you're watching it. I viewed this thing for FIVE HOURS.
