The PPASG seeks to promote and encourage research, teaching, and service in the field of protected areas, which encompass the creation and management of parks, forests, monuments, historic sites, wildlife refuges, wilderness, sacred spaces, and other landscapes, buildings, or other protected places.

The paper/poster being presented must not yet have been accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal, edited volume, or similar scholarly outlet. The student should be the lead-author of the work, but co-authors are permitted. Submissions should address a topic relevant to PPASG's mission:

Current PPASG undergraduate and graduate student members are eligible to apply for awards. Candidates submitting to any of the three competitions should have an active PPASG student membership and plan to attend the 2027 AAG Annual Meeting in-person or virtually.
