Fifteen Years xkcd.com/3172/
Comic. Panels up to the 10-year point are grayed out. New panels since the Ten Years comic, which chronicles the first ten years of PERSON 1's journey with cancer: (1) [two people in bed] PERSON 1 (woman): One more chapter? PERSON 2 (man): Don’t we both have to get up early? PERSON 1: Nnnnnggggh PERSON 2: Sure, good point. (2) [many people wearing masks, walking while looking at graphs on their phones] (3) [birds landing on people] PERSON 2 in beanie and scarf: Hah! They like *my* seeds best. PERSON 1 in scarf holding phone with a bird sitting on it: Wait, how do I take a picture of this one? (4) [two people rowing boats with tree landscape] (5) [Person 1 carries overflowing stack of things to Person 2 in bed] PERSON 1: I brought you honey lemon tea, more pillows, a cinnamon roll, Tylenol, another blanket, a– PERSON 2: It was just Appendicitis, I’m really– PERSON 1: *It is my turn to take care of you and I am going to do it right!* (6) [Two people in car] (7) [still in car) PERSON 1: Oh my god. PERSON 2: Oh my god. (8) [car driving] PERSON 1: Pull over! PERSON 2: I am! (9) [both people get out of car] (10) [Large colored panel of aurora borealis over water with both people looking on] (11) [Person 1 sits against tree while Person 2 lies on the ground] PERSON 1: Fifteen years. No sign of the cancer. (12) I *am* having some weird symptoms. Joint pain. Fatigue. I think I’m losing my close-up vision. PERSON 2: Yeah. Me too. (13) PERSON 2: I think we’re getting old. (14) PERSON 1: I guess that’s okay. PERSON 2: It’s all I wanted.

For all the people who would like to enjoy the good news of things without being forced to show humanity for a guy who consistantly refused to do so at every step of the way: WOOOO!!! FASCIST DOWN :DD 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

@neilcic.com @needlejuice.bsky.social this little guy appeared in the mail today :D just in time, too. I was looking for a soft fuzzy man to replace the fiberglass monkey that I.... no longer have for entirely normal reasons. In all seriousness this is great and I am overjoyed :D

Just a reminder this pride month that the national park service in the US still has transgender people fully erased from the Stonewall monument site. Remember the riots. Remember our roots. Riot, fight, protest. Don't let these fascist pigs think that lazily painting a rainbow can absolve them.

Why the hell are kids on social media being instilled with the thought that they need to give their two cents on topics beyond them? Furthermore, why are they then also resistant to the idea that perhaps they don't know nearly enough to form a nuanced opinion on what they chose to talk about? what?

It's incredible how much something being juuuuust a little bit more inaccessible can completely destroy your quality of life. In my case it's minor, but it's frustrating that the effect is so obvious yet no one wants to alleviate the unnecessary suffering that it causes when they aren't affected.

I have not known stubborness until I have tried getting nice hertzsprung-russel diagram from an open cluster that has what are most likely some unrelated foreground stars or some very stupidly bright ones. Regardless, 8th time's the charm (PLEASE)

Fun Astrophysics Fact for yall: for most stars (think ones similar to our sun) they operate in a strange way to maintain energetic balance - say they're producing more energy than they're radiating away. the star will react by expanding and cooling down! that's where we get red giant stars :D

I would enjoy sharing scientific or philosophical information/knowledge/discussions to the people out there but there's a strange sense that I'm not allowed to until I'm entirely confident that there is no one else out there who has thought of sharing the same thing. Bifurcation is neat? maybe that.

nothing comment for myself to come back to in the future? it's really interesting seeing how much more like lunch discussions this place feels like, and it gives weirder comments way way more ick when you read them - neat? also i like having more manual control over what i'm seeing. it's nice
