A very small thing. The river below, which tends to the shy side of life in summer, almost entirely obscured by lush green, is once again twinkly in the afternoon sun.

I would think so. Though, thankfully, it was not an unannounced visit and there was time enough to put away the genuinely embarrassing stuff.

Beauty comes in a great number of forms. Would be foolish to be embarrassed by celebrating it.

That slightly awkward, though nevertheless amusing moment, when the house painter, called in to give an estimate for the hard to reach high ceiling of the staircase, asks to see the rest of the upstairs. Changing rooms are supposed to be in various states of undress.
The smaller one on the far wall is, in fact, autographed and addressed to my wife, so please do understand this is decorated with mutual enthusiasm.

“How easily happiness begins by dicing onions.”
This is the best domestic perfume.
You sit down to eat with a rumor of onions still on your twice-washed hands and lift to your mouth a hint
of a story about loam and usual endurance. It's there when you clean up and rinse the wine glasses and make a joke, and you leave the minutest whiff of it on the light switch, later, when you climb the stairs. Some parts of life have yet to be painted over.

But they will.

My hope is for a 101 win season filled with single-entry doubleheader sweeps and one dollar extra large crinkle cut fries from Nathan’s. My expectation is a 68 win season and a botched first round pick on a can’t-miss prospect.

An otherwise sunny morning. All blue sky and warm sun.
An elderly rabbit, with three water bowls to choose from. Some years ago my wife and I stayed at the large hotel which dominates the base of Rusutsu in Hokkaido. This was before we knew where else to go.
It was the holiday season and crowded. The main dining halls were full and so the convention halls, with their straight-back meeting room chairs, were opened to handle the overflow.
The food was perfectly fine. Everyone friendly enough. All-you-can-eat dessert, those chocolate fountains, you know the sort. But families of four sat at tables for twenty. So conversations did not drift up and get lost in the high ceilings, people whispered. It was an honest effort, circumstances given, but nobody lingered.
Not unlike this clumsy metaphor for BlueSky, the only platform I've used for two years. Filled with honest efforts and good individuals and yet I can't shake the feeling that it's a lonely space, not for lack of trying.
I wish I felt otherwise. Surely a few others must feel similarly.
Here's a rabbit to balance the look-at-me gibberish.

Perhaps not a bad opportunity to revisit other classics in the genre.

There are moments, however fleeting, that make me question everything I have ever done, am doing, and will do, for however many years I have left. Such as waking up to this movie recommendation from my brother. All that ails, and heals, still rolls on. youtu.be/S_LJ2GVttdk?...

Drafty. Hot in summer. Cold in winter. Insects. Other inconveniences. But, hey, that's most of them anyway. So perhaps you wouldn't mind so much. A small house in Nakano, near Shinjuku. www.realtokyoestate.co.jp/estate.php?n...
A typical scene from a typical home on a typical corner in Tokyo. Sliding doors and windows and, yes, they would like rattle. But that is life. One of those small houses on a corner you sometimes see. Occasionally there is a woman in her late 80s shuffling out front and you wonder if she is alone or if there are others who comfort her, and her to them. The layout to a small home in Ochiai, where Nakano and Shinjuku.

But this is the great loneliness that is BlueSky, and the Alt-Text at that, so I could so anything here, without consequence and nobody would ever know. Just like all the other things I say in everyday life.

Saying all the words so you are left all alone with whatever is left, to borrow a line.

Their cover of "The Only Living Boy in New York" belongs on one of those Great Cover lists. That said. If you were to look for it on Spotify you might find it listed under a more disturbing and alienating alternate title.
Tom is, understandably, flying down to Mexico to cure himself of the great loneliness and isolation that has become life in New York.

The derision we heap upon the avid stamp collector or train spotter might really be a kind of defence mechanism, to spare us from confronting the possibility that they're truly happy in a way that the rest of us-pursuing our telic lives, ceaselessly in search of future fulfilment-are not. This also helps explain why it's far less embarrassing (indeed, positively fashionable) to have a 'side hustle', a hobby-like activity explicitly pursued with profit in mind. And so in order to be a source of true fulfilment, a good hobby probably should feel a little embarrassing; that's a sign you're doing it for its own sake, rather than for some socially sanctioned outcome.

Also of note, from the "How Kumamap reviews every bear sighting page." "This matters because the real crisis is severe... When the majority of bear content online is fabricated, it becomes harder to know what’s actually happening.
The Homer Simpson eats Guatemalan Insanity Pepper background should give this one away as fake, but others are, indeed, harder to discern.

Because the Sunday news carried a segment on recent bear encounters in Nikko, I've been spending time on the delightful website Kumamap, which tracks sightings. Putting aside the three pins on the map within 100 meters from home, I'm most interested in the budding cryptozoology field in Wakayama.
As might be expected, there is no photograph, not even a grainy one, out of focus and at a distance, of the "bear-like animal" in Wakayama, and thus the website is forced to rely on the more salacious use of vicious claw prints instead.
