Another solid entry in the iconic Evil Dead franchise. It’s not the goriest (even though there are plenty of awesome kills and grotesque scenes), nor is it the scariest, but everything mostly meshes t...

It’s been a few days since seeing this, and I’m finally ready to put my thoughts down. There are plenty of things I liked and didn’t like about The Odyssey, but overall, it really is an epic—and mostl...

Yes, I’m super behind on my Pridepalooza list from last month, but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things and finish this year’s lineup. Anyway, this was a total blind pick, and what an absol...

This is a fine, well-made film, and maybe on another viewing I’ll appreciate its god-awful sloth pacing, but I just couldn’t get into it. Like I’ve always said, period pieces are always hit or miss fo...

There’s obviously a lot of nuance that can be discussed about this biopic of Queen and Freddie Mercury, but I’m only judging the movie that was presented to me. As a fan of Queen’s discography, I was ...

I had never heard of Reinaldo Arenas before watching this film, and I’m glad I know about him now. A writer and poet who was openly critical of Fidel Castro’s Cuba, Arenas was exactly the kind of voic...

When I added this film to my Pridepalooza list this year, I had no idea it was Harris Dickinson’s feature film debut—and what a performance it is. Beach Rats is a sluggish slow burn that relies heavil...

What a delightful, unexpected surprise of a film. It’s such a breath of fresh air. Sure, there are a few familiar tropes, but they’re constantly subverted and turned on their head, and I kind of love ...

First, I need to visit Iceland immediately. The cinematography is beautifully done—simple, understated, and incredibly effective. Set in a small fishing village in Iceland, the film follows best frien...

This movie is cute enough, but I could not connect with a single character. I get it—they’re kids, and maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for a coming-of-age story. Who knows? It just fell flat for me. A...

I was unfamiliar with Andrea Gibson before seeing this film, but I remembered comedian Tig Notaro promoting it last year since she’s a producer and wanted to add it to my Pridepalooza list this year. ...

Well, that ending completely wrecked me. Excuse me while I wipe the tears from my eyes. What’s interesting is that it’s not even a huge final scene, but the calculated, deliberate glacial pacing of th...

Before starting this review, I had this at three stars, but I like when a movie makes me question whether I liked it or not. For that alone, it gets an extra half star. This film irritates me because ...

I love when you find a random movie that turns out to be much better than expected, and I had a great time with Ponyboi. River Gallo produces, writes, and stars in this crime thriller about an interse...

This is a middle-of-the-road black comedy that was mildly entertaining, but I found myself reaching for my phone and checking the time a little too often. Andrew Rannells and Nick Kroll have decent ch...

This movie baffles my brain because up until the end, my thoughts were, I enjoyed it enough, but I didn’t care for a single character in the entire thing. Then the ending rolls around, warms my dead l...

I bought this Blu-ray randomly at Half Price Books because I’d seen the cover while looking up gay movies for my Pridepalooza each year, and it wasn’t half bad. It feels like an R-rated made-for-TV Li...

I’m still wrapping my multi-layer brain around this bizarrely creepy film. It’s a slow burn that builds tension and anxiety incredibly well, but if you’re waiting for a big payoff, you might be out of...

This is one of the strangest, yet most beautifully realized films I’ve ever seen. It plays like a 1940s old-timey Hollywood melodrama drenched in an art-house aesthetic. The cinematography is wonderfu...

If I had seen this movie when I was confused and figuring things out, it absolutely would’ve become one of those bad-good gay movies that all us elder millennials fell in love with in the early 2000s....

This British football (soccer) movie is honestly all over the place, which is ironic considering it’s based on a stage play and is literally only three acts and three scenes, but I’m here for the chao...

I wanted to like this more than I did. I was still mostly entertained, but this was cookie-cutter horror tropes all around. The opening hook was easily the best scene in the movie, and honestly, nothi...

As someone who can appreciate and respect Michael Jackson’s talent and absurd level of superstardom, I enjoyed this concert film… I mean biopic more than I thought I would. But let’s be clear: they gl...

I’ve been going back and forth between 4.5 or 5 stars and, when that happens, I always round up. HOLY. SHIT! What a delightfully disturbing, beautiful, gut-wrenching dark surprise of a film. I fucking...

I probably should’ve waited until my Pridepalooza next month to watch this, but I finished the book last week and wanted to see the film before my brain ejected everything I comprehended from the nove...

I was quite shocked by how solid this sequel was. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is heavily character-driven and gives a fresh side to all four of the main characters, which ends up being the film’s smartest...

Boy, have I been slacking on this year’s movies. It’s actually kind of sad… anyway—Primate is a semi-fun creature feature that occasionally gets under your skin, for better and worse. The practical ef...

The characters carry this film across its 300+ mile journey—that is The Long Walk. Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson are incredible together, anchoring the story with real weight and chemistry. Also… n...

I’m really glad I caught Pillion in theaters before it disappeared. What a refreshing self-discovery story—one that rarely gets told, let alone handed to mainstream audiences. It won’t be for everyone...

Talk about amazing slow-burn tension throughout the entire film—only for the ending to fizzle into an anticlimactic dud. The opening hook scene pierced through my lip like a trout in a river. I was ho...

What a ride! I can absolutely see why this film has been nominated for so many awards this year. For a movie that’s 162 minutes long, it absolutely flew by—mostly because it’s nonstop action the entir...

I had never heard of this film before the Oscar nominations were announced—and I’m so glad it was nominated. How can a story so simple, yet so heartbreaking, be this beautiful and powerful? The final ...

Well, this is definitely a Guillermo del Toro film—you can’t escape that. And why would you? Like most people have said, the film is beautifully shot. You can feel the passion he has for the story of ...

This is a movie I should’ve seen in theaters — that alone probably would’ve bumped my rating up a tad. Even so, it bizarrely kept my attention for most of its 155-minute runtime. The long-ass second a...

As a fan girl of this franchise, they could have Neve Campbell shit in a box and I’d still be on my feet cheering. That said, after sitting with it, this is clearly the weakest installment of the bunc...

I wasn’t expecting to connect with Diane Warren as much as I did after this documentary. It’s genuinely unbelievable how many massive hit songs she’s written — by herself — and that part alone is stag...

If little pre-teen Dan had seen KPop Demon Hunters (2025), it wouldn’t just be his jam — it would’ve been the glittery proof that he was, ya know… 💅. I’d be learning the choreography, putting on full ...

What a gut-wrenching, infuriating, heartbreaking documentary pulled straight out of our current shitty, hateful, racist reality. The choice to tell the story entirely through police body cams and inte...

Fuck it, it’s getting five stars. My brain is still sprinting in paranoid circles trying to process the absurdity—this film is an insane masterpiece and I’m stuck inside it. It’s almost impossible to ...

Unfortunately, I didn’t connect with this story as much as I should have. For some reason, I just couldn’t fully get into it. The performances are wonderful and deserving of all the nominations — and ...

I’m giving this four stars because that ending gave me goosebumps — it was truly terrifying. The pacing is definitely slow, but I was still locked in. It takes you on a journey that has you questionin...

What. A. Screenplay! (Exclamation point) I genuinely didn’t know what I was walking into, but I was pleasantly surprised — and honestly impressed — by how completely this movie hooked me. I couldn’t l...

I swear this isn’t some ironic joke, but I feel like I watched this as a kid… and yet I remembered absolutely none of it. I grabbed the 4K steelbook a couple years ago for a good price, and wow — it l...

Simple, but deep. Sweet, yet quietly heartbreaking. It hits that uncomfortable truth: we get one life on this planet, and somehow we end up spending most of it working for corporations just to survive...

The story was cute, and I definitely had those almost-tears forming. The animation kinda bugged my eyes at times, but it was still a fun watch… right up until the ending with the Bible verse. Religion...

This. Was. A. Lot. I haven’t seen Uncut Gems or Good Time, but I’ve always heard the Safdie brothers specialize in anxiety — and holy shit, that is accurate. The score is absolutely fucking unhinged. ...

I’ll start by admitting I know very little about Shakespeare and feel pretty indifferent about most of his work. That said, this imagined backstory for the inspiration behind Hamlet completely pulled ...

Oof. I’ll watch this franchise forever, but I think I hated every single character here—except Delores, who didn’t say a word. IYKYK. The writing is corny, the energy feels phoned in, and I’m genuinel...
