log base (.99) of (.1) is roughly equivalent to 229.105, and we round up because we cannot have fractional attempts. We then divide that 230 by our number of players (number of attempts per day), again always rounding up. This gives us the results above!

For exacties: all rolls are independent, so we use (as you did) the inverse, the probability of it not happening a single time, which is 99% chance per roll, and multiply. Because we are just doing powers, and we are looking for a 10% chance of all being the same, we can use logarithms.

I would concur -- a 1/100 chance, attempted 230 times, has a >90% chance of happening at least once. For greater numbers of players, you're just increasing the rate at which attempts are made, so we just divide the attempts by the number of players. 2: 115 3: 77 4: 58 5: 46 6: 39 more math below
