Blakeman wants to cut funding to schools attended by poor students, Black students, Latino students, and students learning English. He definitely doesn’t want to cut school spending in Manhasset and Cold Spring Harbor!

Bruce Blakeman will definitely get our school spending in order, look at how lean and mean the budgets are on Long Island

The charter schools that Reason or Heritage or whatever are comparing to PS 307 definitely do not have 8:1:1 classes and most likely don’t have 12:1:1 classes, either
040 0
Tim “Positive Subway” Smith @positivesubway.bsky.social · 15/10/2026
In fact, I’d even say this school is operating pretty efficiently, likely because 8:1:1 classes aren’t offered at every school and some qualifying students are likely bused there. 12:1:1 and 8:1:1 classes can’t be topped off with kids who don’t need the services

This is such fantastic reporting, it’s not easy to get normie parents on the record like this! I will take another opportunity to point out that the per-pupil spending here is skewed by a disproportionately high number of kids whose IEPs require low class sizes
A funding table showing that about a third of the students at PS 307 require a self-contained special education class that cannot exceed either 12 or 8 students, headed by a SE teacher + class-wide para, plus whatever individual paras may be required by the child’s IEP. From https://www.nycenet.edu/publicapps/Offices/FSF/Report.aspx?type=d&year=2026&schoolcode=K307The financial weights/resources provided for students with disabilities. From https://www.uft.org/teaching/students-disabilities/special-classes/special-class-staffing-ratiosThe breakdown of class sizes/types at PS 307. It offers 9 sections of either 12:1:1 or 8:1:1 classes, an unusually high number for a small ES, plus an ICT section in each grade for children with more moderate disabilities. That is quite a haul for abusing the living shit out of animals and being so indifferent about safety people that have died from it
An updated draft of Roamnch's bill, reviewed by the Daily News, would require the establishment of an "industry transition plan" by April 2027. That plan would outline steps to help carriage horse workers secure new jobs, including at regional transit agencies or in tourism roles.
The plan is also expected to identify educational opportunities — and possible tuition assistance — for displaced drivers.
The updated language would also require "consideration of whether to establish a program to compensate horse drawn cab owners for the value of their horse drawn cab businesses, horse drawn cab licenses, and equipment."

Hard not to notice that Democrats who are doing the best are the ones who are leaving this whole civility-and-norms, we-go-high, we-need-a-strong-Republican-Party bullshit behind and are simply giving Republicans exactly what they all ought to get at all times, which is undisguised contempt.
