ESCO redevelopment includes housing, business and green space

Plans are slowly taking shape for the redevelopment of the former ESCO Corp. industrial property in Northwest Portland where developers want to bring together 1,300 housing units, a grocery store, light industrial development and green space to the area, served by an extension of the Portland Streetcar to the Montgomery Park office building.

Mercy Housing Northwest is developing the first project on the ESCO site in partnership with Friendly House, which operates a nonprofit community center in Northwest Portland.

Walsh Construction's Ames, who is also part of the ownership team for the ESCO site, said it was important to start the redevelopment with the construction of affordable housing to fulfill inclusionary housing requirements for multiple buildings across the project area rather than sprinkling inclusionary units across multiple units.

The Rose Festival Grand Floral and Starlight Parades are happening downtown the evening of Saturday, June 6. Both parade routes cross our tracks on Taylor at SW 10th and 11th but streetcars will remain in service. The Grand Floral begins at 6:30pm and the Starlight at 8:30pm.

The Broadway Bridge is reopening this Sunday, April 12! A and B Loop streetcars will resume full service to the eastside first thing Sunday morning.

Eastside streetcar service will resume full operations first thing Sunday morning.

The stop at NW 9th and Lovejoy will reopen for A Loop service as streetcars once again resume crossing the Broadway Bridge.

The annual Portland Winter Light Festival kicks off February 6! With many events, installations and performances in the central city, Portland Streetcar service will once again be free to ride after 5pm each night of the festival—February 6, 7, 13 and 14.
