The AI economy is increasingly following a familiar model: Private companies build. Government subsidizes. Corporations capture the upside. Taxpayers absorb the cost. Meta reportedly reduced its 2025 federal tax bill by $3.9 billion by classifying AI data centers as experimental research.

This is what happens when A.I. is optimized for profit rather than harm reduction: DraftKings developed models to identify gamblers most likely to lose money and targeted them with promotions, while efforts to use similar technology to identify gamblers likely to become addicted were shelved.

“National Security” is the euphemism they deploy when they have no logical argument or empirical evidence to justify their position. Instead of providing evidence, they invoke “National Security” to push through their agenda.

US sanctions on Cuba are economic warfare: • 7,000+ containers stranded • Essential aid blocked: ICU solar panels, cancer meds, water treatment • Crucial shipping lost: Sanctions scared off cargo lines • Mass suffering: Surging hunger, 100k awaiting surgery www.nytimes.com/2026/09/17/w...

Trump’s Economic Vise Leaves Cubans Desperate for Food and Medicine
The U.S. says its sanctions are not aimed at depriving Cuba of essential goods. Thousands of stranded shipping containers tell a different story.

For decades, the political project has been remarkably consistent: Cut taxes for the wealthy → reduce public revenue → increase deficits → use the resulting debt to justify cutting social programs. This not a non-political fiscal policy choice. It's a mechanism for redistributing wealth upward.

We've entered a new phase of surveillance capitalism where the government doesn't just collect information about you. It can analyze your behavior, determine that you're statistically suspicious, and use that assessment to initiate a police encounter.

Corporate profits just hit a record 13.2% of GDP. Wages simultaneously fell to a record-low 41.1%. This is the political economy of modern capitalism: record profits, a shrinking share for workers, and corporations spending billions on political donations and lobbying to maintain the status quo.

The SEC is officially arguing that banning private equity from bribing public officials "stifles free speech." First Citizens United equated campaign donations with free speech, and now anti-corruption guardrails are being erased under the exact same logic.

Corporate profits are soaring while workers struggle to keep up with the cost of living. Since 2019: Profits: +52% Wages: +12% This is what the economy looks like when growth is increasingly organized around extracting wealth from working people rather than improving their lives.

Bloomberg, a financial newspaper of choice for the business class, is framing the Venezuela oil deal as neocolonialism. When even a publication representing the interests of global capital is using the language of anti-imperialism, that says something.

Data centers get tax breaks, subsidies and electricity at a fraction of what ordinary households pay. Communities get higher infrastructure costs, greater pressure on the power grid, environmental impacts and higher energy bills. The profits are privatized. The costs are socialized.
